OK, so for now, just forget everything you know about DBGT. Now, imagine a new addition to the DBZ series. Its premise, put as vaguely as possible, is basically something like this: -The main cast travels the galaxy searching for the dragonballs. -The main cast travels to many different planets, fighting many different enemies -The series shows what happens to the main cast after the Buu Saga, and how they mature, develop, and get stronger -There are new enemies stronger than Buu OK, now to add in the details (spoilers ahead) Spoiler: click to toggle Now, when you put it that way, it almost makes DBGT seem like an awesome show. So what made it so terrible? The major reasons are: -Pan, simply everything and anything about Pan -Goku turning into a kid -The show is centered on Goku too much -A large part of the show features Goku, Trunks, and Pan as the main cast. The main cast possibly could have been Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Goku if Pan didn't push the freaking button. -Oh god, the Super 17 Saga. What a mess. -Think some of the main characters like the humans and Piccolo were downgraded to secondary characters in the Buu Saga? Watch DBGT and think again. -The Para Brothers. Imagine the cheesiness of the Great Saiyaman and the Ginyu Force combined with the annoyingness of Pan and Chi-Chi, put all into three people. So, do you think that if they took out those bad parts, it could have been good? |

I loved GT at least as much as Z. The reason most people hate is because they watched the dub. There's nothing wrong with Son Pan or Chibi Son Goku IMO. Pan is a normal 9 year old girl, it's only when the dub turns her into a bitchy 14 year old that it is a problem. Son Goku is far, far better as a kid as well IMO. Yi Xing Long, Si Xing Long, and San Xing Long felt like far more interesting and fitting big bads to end the series with than Majin Boo. They're actually related to the objects the series (supposedly) centers around and are the consequence of their overuse, unlike Majin Boo who just came out of nowhere and had nothing to do with anything. |

It would have been good if the ridiculous overpowering, that overly stupid super 17 saga, the excessive focus on Goku, and the entire kid Goku thing, never existed. But Android 17 returning as a villain is just plain stupid. It's just like Majin Piccolo. The base saiyans would laugh and take him out with a single punch. The fight would have gone like this: where Goku/Vegeta is Cell and Android 17 is Hercule. It's just too late to make 17 a villain again. The only way he could be of any importance is to be Goku's fusion partner in the Baby Saga. Edited by brolyeuphyfusion, Jan 22 2012, 04:38 PM.

Did that happen in GT? Not exactly. When I said, "Android 17 returns as a villain," it was implied that he returns as a stronger villain who could put up a match against the saiyans, which is what happened in GT. I agree with the rest of your post though. |

There are tons of things that I would have done differently, but I still consider the first half of GT to be much better than the Buu Saga or Garlic Jr Saga. Baby is a much better villain than Buu, I like how it digs into the Saiyan/Tuffle backstory, and I enjoy the comical tone that some of the earlier episodes take. Reminds me of Dragon Ball, which is a good thing. Super 17, the Shadow Dragons, and the ending were garbage in my book, though. |

Piccolo would need a transformation or massive power up and the humans should have learned kaioken or got a power up. I also wish there wasn't that many time skips even in Z. I hated seeing the human companions getting old and wrinkly. Edited by Optimus Banana, Jan 23 2012, 12:00 AM.

I think just a better dub would've made for a 90% improved GT. The FUNi dub changed practically every line for some unknown reason, and it leaves us with questions and the hatred you see most fans having. |

Wow, I've never realized how annoying Pan's voice was, maybe that could have been a reason I hated her for most of the show. How right you are! |

DBGT is the one show I refuse to watch the dub and only watch subs, not that I watch GT much at all. I actually love the Japanese music and even a handful of episodes. Even if I can't remember 95% of the series. Also Spoiler: click to toggle

I don't even like GT subbed (which is how i've seen the majority of it. Pan's voice actually made me not watch the dub, as well as the horrible music). Some episodes are ok and I do like the music as well. Everything was too fast for me though. Usually, a Dragonball saga tends to have fights against henchmen and it goes into more detail. GT just rushed everything so they could get Goku fighting the main villain. I did like Baby as a villain though and Uub after his fusion was pretty cool. It had potential and some good ideas but I don't think they were executed properly. |

Get rid of Pan, SS4, Uub, Bulla, add Bruce Faulconer, have it all on earth, make the part were all bad guys break out and get their revenge the end, and we got ourselves a hit. |

Most of the time I watch dubs but GT did such a bad job I had to watch it in the sub. I don't think Pan was annoying as some people but she was still better in the sub. I think so. Also the music was way way better in the sub as well. I liked gt so yeah. |
