I've only watched the dub, and I don't use any of those terms lol the only one I might slip up on is the SSJ one but only because that's what everybody else here uses and its easier for them to understand. I actually find it annoying when subbers start calling Krillin, Kuririn or whatever, even though that's his original japanese name, just because i think it sounds stupider than Krillin. I think I just find the dub terms more sensible. I mean Hyperbolic Time Chamber is an awesome name for a room. The other way of saying it is just too long winded and lame XD Just cuz people mix the terms up shouldn't really annoy you that much, perhaps they just don't know all the japanese terms or are using some cuz it's easier to write out, or because everybody else happens to be saying them ;P At the end of the day you know what they're talking about regardless of how they watched the show and how you did. |

I think she was speaking more to the hypocrisy than to the general community, but I could be wrong. |

1. SSJ looks better and is more distinct. SS could easily be confused with something else. 2. Son Goku is his full name. Everybody has one. Whether or not it was used in the dub, it's still his name. 3. RoSaT looks and sounds a lot cooler than HTC. And like number one, it's more distinct. Like for me, I always call it the Hyperbolic Time Chamber (Hey, I spelled that right!) but when I'm typing, I almost always put RoSaT. 4. People use Freeza because it's funny. The dub version changed his name, and therefor messed with the whole Ice-jin theme. There's King Cold, Cooler, and Freeza. Frieza just doesn't fit as well. Personaly, I always use Frieza, but I can see why other people use Freeza. 5. Now, I really don't know why dub fans use this one. I guess it just depends on which one you like better. Just for the record, I am a dub fan. I also like the Manga though, and the Japanese Anime has a lot of things going for it, like being the first. So no matter how much I like the dub, I will always respect the original. Even if it makes Vegeta and Goku sound like girls... |

Krillin makes me laugh. Goku makes me cheer. Vegeta makes me scream. Gohan makes me gasp. And Piccolo makes me shut up. Spoiler: click to toggle | |

Indeed he does. It's Goku who sounds like a woman. A 57 year old woman. |

Im guilty of mixing them too. There are some names I just think sound better/cooler in Japanese and English. -Kikoho instead of Tri Beam -SSJ instead of SS -Rosat instead of hyperbolic time chamber Edited by KingOfAllSaiyans, Jan 19 2012, 07:40 PM.

I used to mispronounce Makankōsappō and say "ma-kan-ko-so-po-po" and wonder why Piccolo would name an attack after Mr Popo since he hated Kami so much. xD |

The only one I use is SSJ. I dont use the japanese terms for special beam cannon, destructo disk, etc.. I just think SSJ looks better in text form than SS. |

I must be thinking of Gohan. The one episode I've watched in Japanese is He's Always Late, and there isn't a lot of Vegeta in that one. |

Yeah I agree there SS Goku doesn't sound very good not to mention it being like he's a member of the SS lol I'm not exactly a purist but I much prefer the English dub Rosat I use too, but only really here because a) laziness b) sometimes people are like hyper wha-? Does that make me hypocritical? It's just more convenient to use some of the japanese terms and also for SBC it's a pain trying to remember the spelling of makankosappo(deliberately not checking spelling) Although I like to use Light of Death because let's face it, that's damn cool But I guess by purists you mean the people who act like Japanese dub likers should go burn in hell? Particularly ones on youtube...lot of dicks there lol I don't like the japanese dub it just sounds weird to me because english dub is what I heard when I was like 6 Also there are a lot of Japanese dub purists that use English terms ![]() |

I think I've grown to like the Japanese dub because of my involvement in battle power debates. I had to watch a lot of the Japanese version to get accurate statements and whatnot, so I got used to it and grew to like it, kind of like Piccolo and Gohan.
