I found this video. It explains just how dangerous SOPA could be.

The white house is gonna veto it so it doesn't really matter. We just got to wonder what they're gonna try to pass in it's place.

Alright I wasn't sure. So unless SOPA is revised like the NDAA I don't see it passing.

America has no legal right to pass a law like that. They have no authority over the law in the United Kingdom or any country other than their own and even then they don't even know what they're doing.

Yeah try telling them that :p
Most people don't care about there freedoms anymore and it's really frustrating.
In Indiana 8-10 years ago, you couldn't even fire off your own fire works for independence day! "I can't fire off my own fireworks but maybe I can wave an American flag around while my government shoots them I'm so free!"

To be fair no country/place/etc (with any sort of government) is technically "a free country", some are just more so than others.

Plenty of people care about their freedom. Governments just surpress it and tell us we can't do things so we give up trying, but we still care.

Must not care that much if they just give up.

That makes no sense. You can care about something but not do anything about it. Just like you can hate something and never tell anybody. Things don't work in the way some people think, i.e. Grab your pitchforks and run down to the local government building and raise it to the ground. Stuff has to go through the government to change, but they don't let it, and people get fed up with that.

I think both of you have points.

In America things like Occupy Wallstreet & The Civil Rights Movement are/were primarily made by the citizens who did something. On the other hand, sometimes it doesn't do much good besides effort to protest something because of the likelihood of it changing with the government the way it is, is nearly zero percent.

I don't think one side outweighs the other by much.

America makes no sense
We want less taxes but we don't want the government to stop providing us services
We want government services, but we don't want services for the people (health care, gay marriage)
We want to decrease the debt but we don't want to tax the rich
We care about our freedom but we don't oppose SOPA
People look to the government for change but don't pay attention to elections and just care who has 'God' on their side

someone get me out of this country

Being out of america won't help you if SOPA hits. The internet will turn into a pile of crap and we won't even be here. This website is full of uncopyrighted graphics, images, banners, in fact the entire forum as a fan-made thing will cease to exist because we're using something that "isn't ours". When really, whose is Dragonball Z to know about? What was is made for? Just Akira Toriyama? I don't think so. It was made for people to watch, just like music was made for people to listen to. Stopping that is a crime against arts, a crime against media, a crime against peoples social lives. It's just plain wrong.

Im not saying we get get pitch forks and form a mob. We elect people dumb then we complain about the stuff they do. Then we keep re electing them. I just think some people should just better educate themselves because they're people who vote for their party just because that's what party they're in.

And not just presidential canadates but congress man and people in the senate. People tend to blame Obama for all our messes and while he may not be helping, he isn't the one writing these laws.

And like Seruphim said some people rather know your religion than your solutions to our economy.
