Do you think it's right or wrong, or somewhere in between? I'm watching a programme about it currently. I can see how it's acceptable, but I don't think it's quite...normal, to be naked in front of children or basically bring them up to be a nudist. I really don't get the point, it's fine to feel ok with your body and all that but why make the majority of people feel uncomfortable? Why do people need to be naked outside? Personally I just view it as strange, what's wrong with clothes? I don't mean it should be banned but there shouldn't really be protests etc about it not everyone has to be naked it's a choice it shouldn't be forced, much like religion it should be optional. So honestly, what are your thoughts? |

It should be allowed but in closed societies because a lot of people can be offended by it. For example there should be an island/country made specifically in tropical climates for people that actually think it's necessary not to wear clothes. |

I believe in nudity a lot. As a matter of fact I sometimes google it just to see if I like the lifestyle... |

I can't understand people who claim to be offended by it. What exactly is it about the human body that some people find so offensive? It's a different matter to feel uncomfortable around naked people or being naked yourself in public, but to actually detest the human body so much that it offends you is very hard for me to understand. |

Well, it's fine to be okay with your body but the thing is, most exibitionists as I like to call them, arent exactly the greatest thing to look at. Nudists aren't all incredibly sexy women like I think we'd all want to see :P But aside from that, you need to clothes to keep you warm, and you need clothes to prevent people seeing your genitals for various reasons. One being that it removes some element of excitement in the run up to having sex with your partner or whatever if you've just seen them naked and known them naked all the time. Plus it's embarassing for people if they were naked and they go aroused cuz you cant exactly hide it as well without clothes. Im fairly sure that the sexual thing is the main reason for people finding it uncomfortable too, cuz if everybody was nude, rape might be even higher or something since there's that whole stupid arguement about "they were dressed too seductively" so what would happen when theres no clothes, in the sense that there was a culture or country or whatever where nudists lived. And also if you're walking around naked in front of kids, and/or the kids are naked or whatever, then thats kinda suspect as well. Plus not many people wanna look at a morbidly obese naked person either. It's just not what people wanna look at. |

That's exactly what I think too. I'm all for nudism, but it needs to be contextualized and located in specific areas for nudists. That way people will know what they're getting if they decide to go to those places and no one gets offended/perturbed or w/e reason they may have for being against nudism. |

I have no problem with nudism. But I agree that it should be in a closed society simply because not everyone is comfortable with it. I even think I might like to go live in such a society for a bit too, just to see what it's like. I also think it's a good way to raise kids (or at least, there's nothing wrong with it) cause you learn about body image and that you shouldn't be ashamed of your body because of what society says or how media portrays the body. A penis is just a penis and breasts are just breasts, imo. And doesn't matter what kind of body you have; thin, fat, wrinkly, whatever, it doesn't matter because no one is perfect unless you've been photoshopped. I am wondering, though, what a woman does when she's on her period. |

I ont have aproblem with it. And i agree ith the abov statements it should be inclose of communits that are in warmer troical climated to compensate for there lack of protection from the weather.. Its an interesting lifestyle. I an understand the whole feeing of being free thing. I'd imgine nudists are also more self confifent about themselves lol.. But it isnt something i would do. |

Very interesting. There happens to be a nudist beach near where I live and it's just like your description. There's even a sign that says you are entering a nudist area of the park lol. I'd go closer to say hi, but I might have to be bare naked too XD |

I still stand by the shallow opinion that people dont want to see extremely fat or ugly people without clothes on. That's just how people work. I'm fairly sure that most people wouldn't be able to back up their comments about "It doesn't matter what they look like because someone will still find them attractive" approach to this when confronted by a big fat sweaty person whose todger is flapping around in the breeze, cuz unless you yourself can say they're attractive there is no proof that anybody wants to see that particularly, not that i condone being mean to overweight people or upsetting nudists or whatever. It's fine when you keep it to yourself, its just really inappropriate to be naked all the time. Your body does things and has things on it that you dont realise or even take for granted, like what Seruphim said about ladies on their period, how embarassing is that gonna be if you're nude? You need something to hide your bodily functions. People need that sense of privacy that clothes provide so that their entire body isn't judged by the glare of onlookers, because that's what we do as humans, we judge people. |

I agree with what is said - also for guys there wouldn't exactly be anyway to hide physical attraction to someone. I think nudity is fine but should be localised or within your own home or something. Society in general just doesn't seem prepared for such a thing. Clearly it does work - there are still tribes in say Africa which live pretty much nude and they are fine with it. It's only by how we are raised to view things which is why there would be issues with it imo. |

Never even thought of that lol. I don't see what's so unnatural about wearing clothes we've done it for thousands of years for us to survive everywhere we do in the world it's extremely necessary. Also stops us getting bitten by insects and such so that protects us from a lot of disease everything like that. If clothes were unnatural and we weren't supposed to have them by now our race would have evolved a natural fur coat, especially people in col places. Imagine how much more divided a race we'd be the "hairy people" would just get made fun of. I agree with the society thing, why do people need to be naked around shops and things? Especially ones that sell foodstuffs, it's not hygenic. Also imagine how many more paedophiles there would be if chldren wee walking around naked, people on the edge would have a hard time staying there it wouldn't be good for the rest of the world. And yeah I don't think any guy wouldn't get embarassed about public erections, heck it's bad enough when you have clothes on. Fact of the matter is the female body subconsciously to all men is a sexual object they are designed to be curvy to look attractive to men, feeling attracted to them can't really be helped. So looking at naked women in a sexual way is something you coulnd't really control, and people would probably complain about you having an erection, when it's not said persons fault. I find that too in everything I see on tv about nudists it's all old men and women...I don't mean "bring out the hot people!" but seeing old wrinkly people doesn't make me feel very good at all, I doubt many people in the world don't feel disgusted by it. Last but not least I hate how some don't even tke it the whole way and wear shoes, hats etc, clearly they just want to show off or something. |

I have no problem with nudity, but it's not like wearing clothes isn't natural too, it's just part of human adaptability. It's stupid to be nude in cold weather just like it's stupid to be wearing too much while it's hot. You also don't go nude in an environment filled with venomous creatures. People shouldn't care if someone nude randomly passes them in public... unless they're really really dirty or something, but it's not like whether they're wearing clothes makes much difference in that scenario. Lack of exposure sparked this issue, simply desensitize the masses. Edited by SirParagon, Jan 13 2012, 12:04 PM.
