you want an homage? ill give you a few how about the doctors reference to a certain woman in a suitcase? iris the bar waitress? space cowboy character theme? homages, its pretty clear you have no understanding of the word, and YOUVE seen it 5 times? now i KNOW ur a liar. Not to mention the fact that outlaw star and cowboy bebop are two totally different plots and stories, it may have ran alongside bebop but its story is its own. Like FTL said, the ending was meh, but the resulting story was great, so lets not pretend no has a right to an opinion around here. i prefer outlaw star, it has the elements i like in an anime. Get over it. |

Wow. You sir are ridiculous. Why would I lie about how many times Ive seen them? I own both sets and love them both. I have a channel dedicated to Cowboy Bebop. And those arent even homages lol. Are you compaing Ein with Melfina with the suitcase thing? The Doc in Cowboy Bebop says "You Could Fit a small person inside there"..No person could fit in there actually. Ein barely did...so just because both shows have characters(one being a dog) in a case of some sort, You call that an homage? What does Iris have to do with anything? Are you comparing her with Faye in some way? Oh and Trigun has the space cowboy them too as well and came out the same time. Are you gonna throw that in here now too? (unless youre wording these so terribly I cant understand them) I wish you could hear what we're all saying about you on the Outlaw Star forum. Even those guys are laughing at your thoughts on this...and I think they know Outlaw Star better than both of us and not too many people around here know Bebop better than me. When did I ever say that someone didnt have the right to their opinion also? If a show is in the same universe or has homages arent a matter of opinion btw. If anyone would actually like to discuss the 2 shows then let me know. Because I am sick of dancing with this guy who makes a statement, gets proven wrong, realizes it, and then flames. That is all. Sorry if i offended anyone else in some way. Edited by Noir, Jan 18 2012, 02:42 AM.

Like i said, LOST on you. Im laughing now, you described them to a tee and dont see the reference? awesome. LOLOLOLOLOL paying homage is having a direct reference to the other without mentioning the source or where it came from. I dont see you NOT describing the homages, not to mention im not the only person that has seen them. Dont care about MY opinion? check out the web, theres even a yahoo question to the same effect. The answers to that person? NO, NOT the same universe but plenty of homages. Calling you a liar with the pinched emoticon was meaning im not taking this seriosuly, ive made my point, and yet you have continued to jack the thread arguing with me about WHATS better, like YOUR opinion is the only one that matters. Hate to shout you down? but ur wrong in every way. Just give it up. I dont have youtube channels dedicated to bebop or have tapes laying around. i stopped collecting that stuff before you knew how to hold a fork properly. But one things for sure, an homage is an homage, doesnt even HAVE to be a direct reference but a VAGUE one, one that is recognizable to a certain type of situation. I remember when i first heard the doctor say that? BOOM!! instant thought of outlaw When they said that on outlaw? boom, instant thought of bebop, A LOT of people out there are convinced they are in the same universe. A little research does away with this belief, but it doesnt change the fact that its true, and for a reason. So im gonna stop defending WHY i like outlaw star and move on. two totally different themes and shows, liked em both, liking one over the other because critics or everyone else saying so doesnt move me in the slightest. would never happen, i dont bow to peer pressure. i toss it in the trash. How about someone getting specific and saying WHY they think one is better than the other. I'm still a little mistified about why Cowboy Bebop is touted so much. It's good, but I don't think its great. It could have had way better character and plot development. Why does everyone dig it so much. What am I missing. As someone who writes a lot it would really beneficial to know why so many people dig Bebop over Outlaw star. |

personally? i think its because its more real life and could reflect how the future could really be. Gritty, dark, unrelenting, being to able to go into space wont improve things at all. So in the end its the story about an ex con/mobster seeking redemption, have you ever seen the OLD school tv show called renegade? its alot like that, except spkie was a real criminal, who left the game and got ousted by his best friend who is trying to kill EVERYONE and take over the syndicate. Outlaw star is a true space pirate type of cartoon, super ships, aliens, assasins, plots to get to the ultimate treasure. Its an adveture anime that pulls you in, there really is no comparison, its just peoples opinions. real life or adventure take your pick, or watch em both. like em both, like me, and make no apologies, cause apparently there are people who think it begins and ends with them. The dude up above is just one of many. |

So its safe to say, the anti-climactic nature of Bebop is what you like most. I wouldn't say its really more gritty and dirty than say Gundam Wing. I mean the show isn't like scar face. You like the fact that the plot is simple and sort of episodic rather than grandiose? Or is it just that the content, (gangster space cowboys is kind of a novelty) |

Ending this argument in one post Since Bebop fans like to claim "EVERYTHING ABOUT BEBOP IS BETTER" I'm putting this away with one point Yes. The intro. Edited by Fulgore, Jan 18 2012, 08:55 PM.

novelty, especially fo the people putting themselves in spikes place. when i say gritty and dirty? i mean the environment, the world, the people, how things look, Gundam wing is like star trek, technology everywhere, no poor people, and space battles with outstanding tricked out machines. crime ridden, soiled, downtown is a cesspool, its more real in a sense to some people who relate to the street, and yes, bebop is SERIOUSLY HOOD, and everyone has a past, a crazy world to live in. Id take gundam wings world anyday. episodic or overall, if the storyline and dialogue is good, ill give it a chance. But since both of these are overalls? then the pace of the story and character dev. is key. Edited by Paikuan extreme, Jan 18 2012, 08:59 PM.

Except they were driving colonies filled with billions of people into Earth. I'd call that more DARK And Gritty than anything in bebop. |

dark yes, gritty, no, murderous and genocidal? yes, getting to the heart of the streets and how people BELOW the poverty line live. thats what bebop and outlaw are about. Gundam wing doesnt have anything to with this. would never like gundam over robotech anyways. Edited by Paikuan extreme, Jan 18 2012, 09:02 PM.

Cowboy Bebop is all character development. Thats what its known for. With OLS I felt like you dont learn anything about the characters (other than Melfina's) past as Outlaw Star continued. When I have more time I will make a post on why Cowboy Bebop is so highly regarded and why I love it so much.

bebop is pure character dev, but imo it wasnt enough, cause in the end, it basically ended up really just focusing on spike and whats gonna catch up to him if he doesnt take of his issue. Outlaw didnt really get a chance to character dev, it also kind of fell off and became really just a, put you into the middle of the action and let you go from there type deal. I more or less like the beginning of outlaw more than the end, cause you always figure gene and his buddy would be out there, cowboy bebop is really just about death. just about everyone dies in that show. Giving it a fine end to a masterpiece theater drama. im just grateful it was only what? 30 eps? kept it short and swet, i think thats the reason alot of people like bebop. in the end outlaw delved into the magical aspect of finding the treasure and got lost in there somewhere. i still liked them both for what they were though. I truthfully dont see WHY the comparison, there are other shows more like bebop, introspective, insightful, i mean, to me some of the best moments in bebop or star were episodes where its just the crew hanging out on the ship. Thats good character dev right there. |

I agree with you in the sense that I preferred the beginning of Outlaw Start to the ending. Up there for the best first episode in all of anime in my opinion. And theryre both 26 episodes in length by the way |
