Cowboy Bebop vs Outlaw Star

Now keep it clean ladies and gents, no flaming and stick to critical thinking and constructive arguments on your position and that of others.
We know these shows have similarities which can make this topic much tougher and it is said that the shows are in the same universe. Which is best? You decide....

Some topics to consider in your arguments:

Which Crew and individuals do you find best?
Gene Starwind vs Spike Spiegel
Melfina vs Ein
Jim Hawking vs Ed
Twilight Suzuka vs Jet Black
Aisha ClanClan vs Faye Valentine

Ships Battle?
The Bebop vs The Outlaw Star

Which story lines and plots are more suited to your taste?

Why is one anime more or less than the other?

After all that, does nobody really have an opinion on this?

I'm on episode 21 of Cowboy Bebop and I don't understand what all the hype is about. I saw Outlaw Star a long time ago and I'd have to say it has a way better plot. I really don't get why everyone thinks Bebop is such a "breakthrough," "genre defining," series. As far as I can tell it has no real central plot. Don't get me wrong, I liked watching it and think its a good show, I just don't think it can come close to comparting with something like Dragon Ball or Gundam Wing.

Help me out here.

P.S. Spike is a bad *****

cowboy bebop is about spike, its also a metaphorical show about how peoples past can come running up and find them no matter where or WHO they are.

with that being said, i preferred outlaw star in its entirety, its MY kind of show, special powers, an ultimate plot, super fine cat ladies and a really AWESOME ship.

I remember when i watched outlaw star for the first time, and would only HEAR or see cowboy bebop when i would flip thru to the AZN (asian network) channel and check out the latest releases, (this was in the 90's so yes i was there) and on that channel cowboy bebop was unabridged and uncensored. Awesome is the word for it. what YOU are seeing is more than likely a recut edit on cartton network. I admit, the anime in general is what you see, but you dont get the whole story. I suggest finding the japanese version. If you dont like that? then its because it just doesnt pull you in.

But viddy is right, they take place in the same universe, and say so.

Whats wrong with you guys?! Bebop is better in leaps and bounds. I love Outlaw Star (I'm even a member of an Outlaw Star forum) but it pales in comparison to the quality and style of Bebop. I think a lot of people dislike Cowboy Bebop because they dont fully understand it. Not saying this applies to everyone of course. But there is so many underlying messages and themes in the show that a lot of people dont notice or realize them. Its an epic masterpiece of art. If I really have to post all the things that only I have noticed in the show I will. This is all my opinion of course and no one should take it the wrong way because I love Outlaw Star too.

They ARE NOT in the same universe by the way lmao. Angel Links is but Cowboy Bebop is not.

uhh two people here who watched the show and know its history disagree with you, and nothing is wrong with me, i discovered bebop on my own, someone probably told YOU.

I watched it when it was new. The shows paid constant homage to each other, probably out of respect between the artists. So it certainly gives the impression they are related. If youre listening to the dialogue that is.

Star had a bit more action to it, but the ending was meh. Typical shonen anime ending.

Now, Bebop...the way it ended....that was beautiful.
Bebop had better plot, better music, and over all better ending by miles and miles.

Are you serious right now? Do I really have to explain to you how Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop arent in the same universe?....Alright

Outlaw Star takes place in the "Towards Stars" Universe. Human beings leave earth in search of Dragonite as kind of a new age goldrush. The earth is still intact but the entire storyline takes place in different galaxies.

Cowboy Bebop takes place mostly in out solar system. Human beings are forced to leave earth because it gets almost completely destroyed by meteors.

There is absolutely no connection between the series. If there is, Id be glad to know so enlighten me. Just because they came out around the same time and take place in the future/space, that doesnt mean theyre in the same universe.

Remedial

How do I know if the Bebop I'm watching is uncut. It says it is, but....
Are there any elements or scenes you know for sure would be edited out?

Thanks,

On Topic:
I think Bebop would be way better than outlaw star if they developed the main story a little more. As it is, I feel in-invested in the series.

Where are you watching it? On a streaming site or something? (Dont say the name of it if you are, against the rules)

Chances are youre watching the original uncut version anyways.

I "apropriated" a copy of it online. It has lots of blood, some language, and one pair of boobs on a man. Sound like the in-cut?

I just want to make sure I'm getting original material. (Hate censorship)

paying homage by making small mentions was apparently LOST on you. Is reading comprehension not one of your strong suits?

WHO asked you to explain anything? are YOU serious right now? cause you are doing to much lip flapping and apparently not paying much attention to what you watch or hear. Paying homage has nothing to do with being a spin off or being in the same universe. The homages are OUT of universe and between the artists who are friends.

learn about exactly WHAT it is you are talking about instead of quoting or reading some wikipedia. Could care less about angel links, THIS conversation is about what the OP wants to watch, so stop hijacking this thread or get reported for trolling, your preference is well established now, MOVE ON!!

OP: If you are watching the english version? then you will of course recognize curse words and such, also nudity scenes arent drawn over. Like the part In outlaw star where they find the girl in the suitcase? in the original she is naked, not wearing a bikini. Just saying.

You said they were in the same universe earlier derp.

And the original OP is Rebel not Jmarshall derp...and he has already seen both

Ive seen Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star at least 5 times through each..and all I hear is you talking about all these homages and not giving an example of one

and how is this trolling? This thread is about which one is better is it not? I gave my opinion on the show. Maybe YOU should learn how to read and comprehend

who are you to say? no one, you dont control anyones opinion but your own.

majin cooler: what about referring to the OP are you so stupid about? what i said earlier didnt matter as i changed what i meant, so harping on a previous post when you should be reading the more recent one is trolling, no one here is interested in WHAT the OP has seen, exactly WHY did you mentione who it is as if no one can see who wrote it.

who the ***** is jmarshall?
