 Would it have been a better show if they had added more silly filler like the driving school episode? I do think sometimes that less time could have been spent powering up and grunting. Then we could have had more of Gohan being Saiyaman or Roshi being a pervert.

I think that the show would be better if they added more funny filler instead of the useless staring contests, but I don't think they should add it on top of all of that, and only in moderation.

Look what happened to Naruto.

 Personally, I really like the funny filler. And I know a lot of people (like my dad) who like the funny stuff, but can't stand (or just make fun of) the fighting and powering up stuff. And it is kinda annoying when there's stuff like the 5 minuets before Namek blows up takes 5 episodes. So, yea, I think It would have been better if they had added more of the funny filler, and maybe lightened up on the fighting filler.
Krillin makes me laugh. Goku makes me cheer. Vegeta makes me scream. Gohan makes me gasp. And Piccolo makes me shut up.

 I do feel that there could have been less powering up, but I think there was just enough funny filler. Like ObsessiveFanGirl said, look what happened to Naruto. While the actual plots can be fascinating, the funny filler can detract from the show.

 They could only add funny filler if it was made by someone with an actual sense of humor. I mean Hercule got pretty annoying in the Cell games followed by long power ups. I didn't mind Goku and Gohan during the 10 day rest finding tao and the dragonballs or Buu taking a dump, but some stuff just got to me, like Hercule CGs. I was glad they toned him down in the Buu saga.

 I think they could have easily made a spin off of The Great Saiyaman filler. I quite enjoyed that.
