Google Chrome	I think a lot of people are straying from the logic of having age limitations on things like sex here. Fulgore, just because you're able to do that list of things you said, doesn't make you ready to take responsibility in order to carry out doing those things, or having sex for that matter. For example, at 18 in the UK, you become elligable to vote. But are people responsible when they do that? No, not always. Some people vote for parties like the BNP or the Monster Raving Looney party just for a laugh, which constitutes a wasted vote in the grand scheme of things, but at the very worst, could place a racist party like the BNP in charge of something. In the UK, you are also able to change your name after a certain age, but are people responsible when they do that? No, not always. Take for example John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood, who changed his name to include his favourite football team, or the man that changed his first name to include every single James Bond film title that's ever been produced. These people aren't being responsible, they aren't thinking about what that'll do outside of the fact that it's funny and will get them attention. So the age at which you can do something doesn't mean it's the age you're responsible to do something. Age does not equal responsibility. Like I said, it's just a legal limit, not a definite guideline of when people were ready to do something. If it was a universal thing that all human beings were naturally capable of grasping as soon as they turned 16/18/whatever, the age limit for sex would be the same everywhere wouldn't it? But it's not. And Emma, what you said isn't quite right. I can't tell if you're trying to play devil's advocate with us here but not having a legal limit at all just invites paedophelia as Pelador pointed out, and that's classed as child abuse since quite obviously, children aren't matured in order to have sex since they haven't hit puberty. Some would say 14 is pretty early, in fact I myself in a way think of 14 year olds as kids even though I'm only about 5/6 years older than they are, but that 5/6 years is the difference between people only just getting used to having their voice drop, getting periods and having pubic hair, to being almost a fully grown adult. So of course there needs to be a limit, people that have only just gotten used to puberty, if they've even started it yet, aren't ready for sex. Puberty at least in it's earliest stages is a natural sign that you're still getting ready for sex.

The way I see it, he meant that even though not everybody is ready for it at 18, the restrictions placed on you before it (e.g. can't get a job, can't get an apartment, can't get credit etc) make it so much more difficult to be able to care for a child. I do agree in a way, but that only really applies to when people are forced to do it alone. People under 18 who can still live at home, get financial and emotional support from family and who are mature enough to handle it, should be able to have children if they choose (or not criticized for it if it was an accident, as it normally is at that age).

They aim for sexual pleasure and come out of it with a child, or if they did actually want to have a child, they didn't realise just how difficult it would be to take care of one at that age.

People should wait till they truly feel love or strong feelings for someone. If you feel mature enough and the care for someone to express your love in that way, then by all means you should. No. You're assuming a child is a death sentence for your life. You're completely wrong. I know a lot of people who have had a kid at 18 and are now on their way to a doctorate. A child isn't the end of everyone. Only people whos convictions aren't strong enough. And yes, it's all legal restrictions. Credit, Apartments, jobs, education etc. They come with a nice age restriction on them.

Google Chrome	I'm not assuming that, I'm simply saying that having a child at a younger age makes it a bit harder on you to get your doctorate or whatever at the same age, because you're focusing on raising a baby and looking after them, as well as doing education or whatever. You need money to look after human beings in this life, it doesn't just magically happen. Is that difficult for you to understand? I am not completely wrong. I never said having children was a death sentence and I fail to understand where you got that from. There is nothing wrong with saying that you should wait until you're able to take care of a child before having one. Of course people do and can have children before that but very few of them are planned or responsible. That's all I'm saying. There are of course anomalies for everything, but one case compared to a hundred doesn't mean it's universally true.

Everything is against you, when you hit 18 multiple doors open and it's suddenly not unrealistic to have a child. I never said it's easy, but it's not unrealistic.

Google Chrome	Of course it isn't unrealistic but just cause it opens doors doesn't mean people are responsible enough with their sexual activity at one specific age. All the other things are besides the point. This isn't just about having kids, and it's not about being old enough to vote or anything else, it's about the age at which you're ready to have sex, but the younger you are the less prepared you are going to be surely.
