The title is misleading. I just want to know, for all of you guys that have watched the shows from the very beginning all the way to the end, does watching it from dragon ball and watching the characters die and grow up throughout all the series (db,dbz, dbgt) make it more emotional for you?

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

Dragonball is all about adventure and growing up. DBZ is about powerlevels and only getting stronger. I prefer DB I guess because it's more relaxed but it's hard to go against the Freiza saga.

I watched from DBZ to the end and think watching DB would have made it more emotional for me. Dragon ball is like childhood were you create you bonds and in DBZ the friendship bonds were already created and i was kinda left out of the loop.

DBZ by far, not that I don't like DB but I just like DBZ much more.

I think of them a set together. From my perspective you can't really have one without the other without missing out a huge chunk.

Definitely. Seeing it from the beginning from how it all started, to how it all comes to an end is pretty emotional.

I definitely thinks it makes Dragon Ball Z more impacting. When Krillin dies you have more of a character to miss(even if he does come back after a while), and can understand how Goku feels more. Same thing with Chazou's death against Nappa.
Also whenever Goku is being heroic, especially when protecting the Earth, it makes me think about when he was a kid doing the same thing, and how he's always been an unyielding hero.

Crazy Awesome Legend

Well I watched Dragonball Z before I even knew Dragonball existed. So it was very interesting for me to to see all of the characters origins. I love how the series allows the characters to age and develop as people.

I like both very much, but Dragon Ball is still my favorite.

I just feel like the fights in DB were somewhat better, every tenkaichi fight had a new skill for us to see from one of the fighters, and for me they were more intense too, I still remember Yamcha vs Tenshinhan being an awesome fight.

I watched DB then DBZ so I can't really say if it was more impacting then if I hadn't watched, but the character development throughout the anime was great, even if I think most of the DB characters should've just disappeared after saiyan saga.

In my Opinion watching it from Dragonball to Dragonball Z makes it more emotion. If you watch DBZ first then a few of the deaths won't feel as impacting as it did if you would have watch Dragonball first. Like Krillin. Also in my opinion once you get to the end of the series it also makes it more impacting. So yes you are right in my opinion.

I wish I'd been able to read the whole thing from start to finish without spoilers.

Having seen DBZ years before I read DB, the latter felt like the Star Wars prequels done right.

This exactly. I feel the same. I wish I had watched/read all of DB before hearing about Z. It would have made me love it even more.

And what are you talking about? The SW prequels were done right! ^_^

All of them were done right except for episode 1.. That movie was pretty boring. I'm talking about star wars btw.

Yeah, Episode I was kinda lame. It's probably my least favorite, aside from the duel at the end. That was pretty cool.

And now, back on topic... I prefer DBZ over DB when it comes to the English versions, but I might enjoy DB's Japanese version a bit more if I actually watched it. I'll probably end up doing that after I read the manga.

I wish I would have watched the DB episodes before DBZ. I haven't even watched all of the DB episodes.
