The Buu Saga

MAGICAL GIRLS REPRESENT

Random thoughts that may not make sense.

Everyone knows about the Buu saga, how different it is from how Z became. It tried to get back to its comedic roots while keeping the action and upping the transformations to unfathomable levels, which DBGT also tried later. Buu was also the only saga with its own seperate theme song, as opposed to the rest of the original DB trilogy.

I dunno how to really word it, but... I dunno, do you think the Buu saga could have worked well in GT instead of Z? I mean like, what if GT was more a continuuation of the Buu saga's attempts to go back to the roots? Could we have the Buu saga as a different series completely? Would it have made a difference to GT at all?

I dont think so. One reason is because Gohan was at full potential in the Buu saga and couldnt do ssj. Which he did plent of times in GT. And the buu saga doesnt have that awful GT feel to it. It belongs in Z :D

I think so, I always believe that the fully canon Dragon Ball ended at the Cell arc. And that's not just because Cell arc is my favorite and Buu arc is my least favorite. By the time of the Buu arc, hard work is not the most sufficient way to gain power. I mean potential unlocking, Fusion, control by an evil wizard and all kinds of crap. I think the Buu arc fits most with GT. GT is well known for taking out a lot of the old school (and epic) characters in favor of a select few. GT and Buu both make it too easy for characters to become powerful.

Oh and MajinCooler, that's a minor reason for it to not fit. It didn't make sense for the Anime/GT canon so it wouldn't have made any less or more sense either way.

Buu saga belongs in Z...its too good for GT. I think its a minor reason to say it belonged in GT because there wasnt as much training and hard work. These people can hit a ceiling and need other ways to improve that change the groove a bit and still keep it entertaining.

I dont think so. Buu saga fit to Z and most of the DBZ population lies on the buu saga. GT its sucks and noone like it. Buu saga features the strongest warior vegito and I realy love him and love see him fighting. Its pity that the series ended with goku and vegeta instead of vegito. I know many people who wanted the series to end with vegito. Anyway, like majincooler told, iy doesnt have the feeling of poor GT

Nope, the Buu arc did not deserve Z. Buu arc was unstructured and unfairly focused on just the super powerful people. The whole thing was of little depth and turned a lot of AMAZING characters into flat out annoying people (ex: Gohan, Kid Trunks, Bulma and 18), so pretty much GT.

But one difference it has with GT is that, when the Buu arc put in comedy, it actually worked.

Well songohan, i think that the most people wont agree with you. U may say its diffrent from cell abd frieza arcs, but its far diferent from GT. Buu is the best saga

buu does't belong in gt. issues of quality or entertainment value, or even power gaining methods aside, the buu arc was made by akira toriyama, and is therefore dragonball. gt was made by toei animation, and is therefore a glorified fanfic, or at best a spinoff.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god

Pros-
Fusion
SSJ3 Goku
Goku vs Vegeta fight
Mr. Satan defeating Fat Buu

Cons-
The Buu Saga pretty much ruined Piccolo. He was practically a babysitter.
Every character besides Vegeta and Goku were useless.
Gohan trained for episodes just to be absorbed in a couple of minutes.
Buu yelling caused a rip in the fabric of space....
The slow pace of the saga

That why I watch the Kai version....
Filler sucks bro.
All it does is waste my time and create plot holes.

I mean there is aspects of the Buu Saga that Id like to change, but I enjoyed it overall just as much as any other saga (unless youre lumping the saiyaman saga into the Buu Saga). It does not belong in GT

I actually like Buu saga much more than Saiyan and quite a bit more than the Freeza saga...The characters seemed flat in those saga's, they just didn't have as much life into it imo.
I love all the characters in the Buu saga, even Piccolo, the way he was in charge with the whole Super Buu situation was really interesting to watch him use his intelligence. I also like how Gotenks/Gohan/Vegetto didn't kill Buu it made the saga much less predictable.
Many awesome scenes (Goku turning SSJ3, Super Buu's human extinction attack etc) and two of my favourite fights (Goku vs Majin Vegeta, Goku vs Kid Buu)
Also Funi's Super Buu's theme :D
