Belittling Other's Beliefs

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

I get on to people about this, as a matter of fact I just did on another forum. So, to not seem hypocritical I looked back at a lot of my posts on here and found that there were a few occasions where I did this.

Anyway, point being, beliefs are almost extensions to ourselves and I wanted to apologize if there was an instance where I did this to someone, because I have no intention of belittling anyone.

I think to an extent it's fine. If you go overboard and be a prick/annoying, yeah. But, the whole reason you have a belief and not the same belief as the other person is because you believe yours is genuinely superior in some aspect. Even if your thinking is moronic or horribly flawed, you still think your belief is greater than and more important than the others'. That's the whole point of having that belief. So, really, I just see it as a suppression of truth to say you're not trying to belittle anyone's' opinion. Because you are just by contradicting theirs with your own. Obviously there's an extent to go with it, but, naturally speaking, I don't find it that big of a deal.

I agree, but the reason you have a belief should be because you believe it, which is what is common in them.

This reminds me of a discussion I had with J-Smack a few days back, the point being if you believe something is right enough to defend it head on, then you've earned my respect. No one can blame you for believing what you do if there is reasoning behind it that's at least somewhat of value.

Also, there is a difference in debating & belittling.

For example:

Person A: >insert pro-religious post<
Person B: Well Person A can live in their fantasy world, but I believe in rationality.

Is this wrong? Yes, it is. It's wrong because you're belittling, you could of just said, "I tend to disagree because of >insert logical answer<.

My point is, I hate people that are like Person B, and I really don't want to end up like that or seem like I am to anyone.

don't you mean person b?
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god

I think everyone should just get over themselves. It's annoying to see people who believe themselves better to another and think he can belittle anyone he wants.

Um. That's the thing, it varies from person to person making it almost impossible to stay on the same level.

It's human nature to think your beliefs are superior, but it's just being a dick if you try to belittle other people because you see yours as superior.

This. So much this. Think whatever the hell you want, but it's when you put belief into action I will start to question those opinions.

If you piss me off, I will point out that I do believe that your views are stupid and that I am superior to you, because I do believe that 100% truthfully. Only if you piss me off though. Otherwise, I shall be cordial.

"You" referring to anyone in general.

MAGICAL GIRLS REPRESENT

I dislike people who insist on going out of their way to try to force others to change their beliefs. People of my faith do it, people who don't have such beliefs do it, I do it. It's just... not pleasant.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

It's not only the fault of the...belittler, lol Batman villain for sure, anyway some people do that because the person they are aiming at have a generally silly belief, silly to the majority anyway.

I think people should just get on with it if somebody doesn't agree with your belief, so what? As others have mentioned having a belief means you figure it superior so why should it matter if other people don't accept it, as far as you're concerned, you're still winning.

It goes both ways really if you argue back you're adding more fuel to the fire making it partly your fault as well so really people should just shut up if they don't want to be belittled.
Not arguing for your belief doesn't make you any less correct or less of a believer so what does it even matter.

That's how I handle things in life, don't care, don't get abused.
Can be applied to most things.
