So they did study and found that being repeatedly punched caused long term damage? Wow, who'd have thought. Someone's gonna get the nobel prize for this for sure.

Boxing can cause brain-damage, due to the repeated punches hitting the face and the forehead. But as, Pelador already pointed out, nothing new.

Nobel prize is not enough to reward such beauty. Personally, I think i'd rather get beaten up than sit around.

Haha. Those people will go on and on about how boxing is bad for you, but they never go on about how it's also good for you physically and mentally.

Of course boxing is bad for you. You can suffer from pugilistic dementia where you become incapable of doing normal things like dressing yourself in the morning. It could also cause brain damage and strains of Parkinson's Disease.

But.... On the other hand, most boxers don't suffer from that. And it keeps you fit, healthy, gives you confidence and you'll be able to defend yourself on the street. All of those things are a definite if you take up boxing and regularly practice it.

The things listed above might never happen. Take Muhammad Ali for example. His basic motor functions are terrible, he shivers all of the time and badly slurs his words. But his mental health is literally fine. It's just his physical health.

Even without boxing, this would most likely have happened. Just not as bad.
Bull***** article filter, I'm sorry you had to read that.

I'm fairly sure any physical sport, can cause injury's of some sort. Those 'researchers' are bringing up old news, that's about it. Sweet comment by the way.

Yeah, it can. I used to do a bit of rugby but quit after I found out I was *****. I got tackled and sprained my wrist and couldn't run to save my life, so naturally I quit.

These things happen in professional fighting sports. It's not knitting, people who fight know full well what the consequences are. I've never been seriously injured in a fight but I know that all it takes is one hit and I could die.

Like you and karate. If you were to slip and hit your head badly off the ground, you could also injure yourself.

Same with football, basketball, etc.

The people who wrote that article probably just ran out of ideas so stated the bloody obvious.

Everything can be bad for you. Even things like soccer or baseball. Yeah being punch to the head can cause brain damage but so can getting tackle, being hit with sticks, driving way to fast, skateboarding, and other things. All sports have some type of danger.

Boxing is only bad for idiots who get their nose broken and don't bother to go to the hospital, then have to live for the rest of their life with a bad nose. Happened to my friend. Other than that most contact sports have consequences. Big surprise.
