So, to directly answer your question, I'm not really even choosing. Others have taught me. I will teach others (such as my children.) Then rinse and repeat. No reading and deciding what's right and what's wrong. Granted, again, this is just me.

I suppose we each have our own paths to follow. Blind faith isn't my way, I want to find the answers for myself, not be told something and then accept it and continue the cycle.

If you're not confident enough to defend your beliefs then you shouldn't. It's just a mature conversation. If you get jumpy when people ask you why when it comes to your faith then maybe you should ask yourself the same question. At least some on here are willing to give their honest opinions/answers.

I dont need to prove my belief and faith to you..why does it matter? Not like its gonna change your opinion

and ill die defending my faith..now thats confidence

By the way, before I go to sleep, I meant this more as in the values of my religion. Such as how to treat people and such. Not so much that there once lived a man named Jesus. I do believe that, but I'd say that's more of a choice thing. My children would have the choice, I certainly would not shun them if they weren't Christians. My values I've been taught, though, will be passed down.

That's too bad about your father Cal, It's a shame when families do that. It seems hyprocritical to me when "religious" people think that it's "holy" when they shun their own family members because their beliefs differ.

May I ask what religion your father is?

Ill break this down question by question i guess..and im sure ill explain something wrong because its hard to use words for me for some of things..so bear with me..Here goes

I follow what I believe to be right mixed with Bible teachings and things Ive learned from my parents and role models and what not...and if youre refurring to Noah's ark..thats from the Old Testament..many Christians dont even read the old testament because much of it isnt to be taken literally

I try to, I go to Church on Sunday when I go, And i was always taught that that Commandment meant that you were supposed to worship the lord on that day and rest..

I dismiss some of the Old Testament..not All of it

Ill try to answer this the best i can..I believe that there has to be a God, I think that God tests our faith using my different ways such as not proving himself to us directly..I think of life as a test..If you fail you go to hell, and if you pass you go to heaven..life is just a short term test and I think it only makes sense to use it to believe in the lord and lead a good life to spend an infinite number of time in heaven

I think that as long as you believe in a higher power and help others that people will be rewarded...I dont think it matters what religion you are..i just happened to be raised a Christian

How do you explain the science that disproves a lot of what the bible says?

I think its another test of faith..I think its more logical to believe in God than Science..i mean think about it..if the earth was any closer to the sun we would fry..if it was any further wed freeze..Why does sex give pleasure? So that we keep reproducing..people wouldnt have sex if there wasnt any pleasure in it..I could go on and on about things like that

so there it is..thats kind of a halfass version of my beliefs and faith..its hard to put it in words and Im sure a lot of it could be taken out of context

That seems irritating. See, I came from Chicago, a very diverse town and I moved to small-town Arkansas, where Bubba and all of his friends have opened up a church to praise the Lord and brainwash people into their own way of thinking. I don't agree with someone opening a church because they think they'd make a "good preacher." Catholic priests go through years of school in order to be ordained.

Anyway, I feel you for your situation. I'm not really accepted by everyone in my town because I don't think people are going to hell because they don't believe in Christ. My personal belief.

I was raised to be a Catholic in a country that's main religion was and still is Catholicism.
Recently I've turned to Christianity, which is very similar to Catholicism but because of all of the things that happened in the Catholic church, I've found myself thinking that it's a corrupt and sickening society full of pedophiles.

Not all priests are pedophiles, of course, but damn it, too many of them were/are.
