Funi Remastered :

Z Kai Uncut :

I personally prefer Z Kai in this instant. The Dialogue change is welcome, we actually get to hear Goku use a curse word, which shows that he's majorly affected by this.

Funi Remastered :

Z Kai :

I personally like the Funi Remastered here, I just think it has a better feel to it.

Funi :

Z Kai :

I like both equally. I like the Funi Dub because of the way you can tell Goku is just mocking Frieza. I like the Z Kai dub because Goku is presented as more of a serious character, somebody who's straight to the point.

What do you think? Funi or Z Kai?

Off-Topic : There's one reason why Z Kai won't beat Z :

Spoiler: click to toggle

Thanks for the link for the Vegeta SSJ Transformation Ani! :D

The I Am Speech is slightly different in the uncut version.
The Vegeta SSJ Kai Scene was a fanmade music one :<

Here ya goes

As for which one I prefer you already know what I think. I laugh every time I hear "You didn't say please."

Sean is awesome :p

I generally prefer the Kai dub all-round. Though the original Z dub definitely has value.

Definitely Kai over Z for the Goku Transformation and "I Am" Speech. I like both for Vegeta's. :D

*Note all of this post is my opinion, I'm saying this now cos I cba writing "IMO" every time*
1st clip:
Better Voices:
Funi: Goku, Gohan
Kai: Freeza
Tied/Not enough difference: Krillin, Chaozu and King Kai

Better Music: Funi

Dialog: Mostly Funi. I do love Freeza's "Pop goes the weasle" taunt, but threatening to kill Gohan is much more suiting for setting Goku over the edge.

Random: Lightning sound effects in Kai are great, but Goku's grunting...sounds awkward. Maybe it would in Z too but the music makes it less noticeable imo.

Second Clip:
Voices:
Funi: Gohan
Kai: Vegeta
Tied/Not enough difference: Pretty much everyone else (19 didn't speak in the Kai clip so I can't compare)

Music: Funi

Dialog: Mixed, Vegeta's line about androids experiencing fear is better in Funi but the line about how he became a SSj with a pure evil heart is better in Kai. Not much else to say as the Kai scenes goes on longer so I can't compare it to the Funi one. The remaining lines (All 2 of them) are more or less tied.

3rd clip:
Voices:
Funi: Goku, Freeza (I liked Freeza better in the 1st clip, in this one he just annoyed the hell out of me)

Music: Kai

Dialog: Funi

Random: Goku actually having a power up sound in Kai as he says his final line.

I am Speech:
Definitely Kai. I think what the original Funimation got wrong in the original was that they turned it into a heroic speech and him telling Freeza how he protects the good blah blah. In Dragon Ball Z Kai, he is angry, he wants Freeza to know what he has become, hoping to invoke and inspire fear.

Super Saiya-jin Goku:
Definitely Kai. I think what the original Funimation got wrong was that (with the music), they made the transformation seem a little too cool. In Z Kai, you can tell how angry Goku is, especially with his grunts and potty mouth, the music kind of scares you. Like Gohan would say in this situation, "Wow, dad's kinda starting to scare me a little."

Super Saiya-jin Vegeta:
Definitely Kai. Aside from well needed silence and proper music, I just plain liked the dialogue

Bulma and Vegeta:
Kind of a tie for me. They both made me laugh

Sorry guys I am going to have to disagree with the people that picked Kai versions over the Funimation ones. I am being biased, but I just cannot help it. The ones I grew up with seem so much better and more memorable to me. I watch the kai ones and they don't feel great to me. I guess it just depends on, which one you grew up watching or just on the person.

Taking bias out of the equation Kai is more well done, but I agree that the original dub sounds better at times, especially if the Kai version stuffs in too many words when it isn't necessary.

Yeah I won't lie, I kinda grew up with Kai. I was too small when they original came on to understand all that much. But I did see all these clips through Youtube before seeing them on Kai. So I'm not THAT biased

So Lonely

Kai music sounds like board game music if you ask me. But it sort of fit the I am Speech.

I liked how Goku called Frieza a bastard lol.

Gohan's voice gives me a headache in Kai every time I hear him.

Isn't that kinda what Funimation was doing in Z. You know whenever you couldn't say the person's face, they would sneak in a few words.

That is true, typical of most dubs due to the difference in lip-flapping between languages. I'm more referring to moments in Z that hit the nail, yet were changed. No... not that Nail.
