I think he might have planned for his transformation the whole time. He never would have thrown the bean if he didn't think Gohan could do it. I think he decided to stay dead because he knew trouble would follow him like it always does. Not sure how long he planned on staying dead though.
	I don't care about this forum but I can't stop coming!

Chrome Favourite Manga Dragonball Z	He wasn't stupid , he knew that even if Cell gained a senzu bean, it wouldn't end at all. He wanted just him to fight with Gohan who was ready for fight. Sometimes making the opponent fully healed makes him win the fight , like Gohan. Fairness makes you just into a better person depending on the circumstance. He knew that Gohan had the power to destroy him , it was the purpose to make him enraged and kill him. Maybe he knew he would transform if he got enraged due to the htc flashback. Goku didn't even know Cell was less supressed against Gohan this time. But The only dumb idiot here was Gohan who let Cell to explode so Goku didn't really got a choice but to simply sacrifice himself. And he said he didn't have any other places to let Cell go , meaning that he couldn't sense another planet. He stayed dead because he did not not want any other problems to cause the Earth. Goku would be dumb the whole time if Gohan actually lost. But maybe healing Cell would make him able to hurt the others so Gohan would transform , Goku didn't simply got a choice but to do it. If Cell was weaker than MSSJ Gohan after fighting MSSJ Goku, Gohan would just destroy him. If Cell was stronger than MSSJ Gohan after his fight with Goku, things would've gone exactly as they did. I could just see Goku as a troll right here. ''Here! Take this one Senzu that we won't need later on! /trollface''. That was a foreshadowing as well, Gohan need that Senzu damnit.

It's one thing to heal an enemy you're about to fight, it's another thing to heal an enemy that someone else has to fight.

Most things turned out right when he made decisions, even though they looked bad. Maybe he thought with his heart more than most people did, so most people can't recognize how he thought at all. What people also take for granted is that he was a very smart fighter, and if he made a fighting decision that seemed dumb to us...it probably wasn't because we arent martial arts masters.
