I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

California porn studio Imperial Enterprises, Inc. is suing 3,500 people for illegally downloading the company’s pornographic content. However, one of the defendants claims there’s no way he would have downloaded the illegal snuff. So what’s his proof? Imperial Enterprises has his IP address, which is reason enough to believe that he downloaded the porn, right? John Doe, as he has chosen to be named, is actually blind.

Though some of you may be thinking “maybe he downloaded it to have something to listen to;” Doe claims he has been falsely accused. The legally blind man said he was too busy to password-protect his WiFi connection, which resulted in someone else getting on his network and downloading the porn, entitled “Tokyo Cougar Creampies.”
Doe told the Seattle Weekly that the whole thing was a little ridiculous as his movie-watching ability is nonexistent. He said his kids watch movies, but they’re 4 and 6, “so they don’t watch porn either. Well, hopefully they don’t.”
Unfortunately, Doe will likely have to settle since he doesn’t have the money to afford a lawyer to counter the lawsuit, nor does he have the money to pay if he loses the lawsuit. Going in front of the judge would cost thousands of dollars, and it would cost hundreds of thousands if he lost the case.

So if neither Doe, his wife, nor his two small children downloaded the porn, who did? The Does apparently live in a densely populated area, which means there’s a lot of people in close proximity that are able to hack or just connect to Doe’s WiFi.

We’ve seen this happen time and time again, and this is certainly a wakeup call to protect your WiFi password. The big companies will not take pity on who they sue. If they have your IP address and they have proof of something being illegally downloaded from your address, that’s all they need to bring you to court. Back in April we told you about one man who was arrested by seven armed officers for allegedly downloading kiddie porn. Of course, it was another case of an open WiFi network that some other guy was piggybacking off of.

To summarize, blind man gets accused of downloading porn illegally because his IP is used. He can't afford an attorney and it seems obvious someone just used his IP, hope everything works out.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

That's ridiculous.

I hate when things like this happen it's just not fair, wait for it people will probably say he's lying about being blind

There are some websites with popups that just instantly start downloads without your permission it could have easily been something like that too, what's he going to do see the pop up come up and press cancel? Somehow I don't think so.

It seems pretty freaking obvious it wasn't on purpose even if it was him that is just completely unfair why would he do that? If he doesn't have enough money why the hell would he risk that for some porn, which he can't even see for gods sake
The law/the way it's enforced is pathetic

Badabing!

It depends how 'small' one of the Children is.

IF it's a HE and he is around 12+ then hell I think he could have been the one lol.

But yeah it's possible that someone else downloaded it from his IP.
The only problem with that is the majority of routers already have a 'network key' system in place which is NEEDED to connect the computer to the router.

This isactualy a serious crime I don't think they put enough effort in to it with the child porn thing people could just go round with laptops hack in to a wifi network and download the stuff to get you arrested, it's surely done on purpose most if not all the time
Course it's hard to prove it wasn't you though recording what laptops/pc's access the network every day is one way for when people use another one not originally on the network

The only thing I can think of for your own computer being used is to have a built in webcam log everything that goes on(only you can see it though and delete stuff so it's not abused) that way you could prove someone else was using your laptop/computer when said material was downloaded
They should really do something about it before it gets out of hand the more it happens the more likely people are going to do it even to friends as a joke without realising how serious a matter it is

It says in the article:

"He said his kids watch movies, but they’re 4 and 6, “so they don’t watch porn either. Well, hopefully they don’t.”"

;)

Anyway, this is kind of stupid, of course it could be argued that his wife downloaded it, it can't be proven that she didn't can it?

But also, IPs can change as well as unprotected WiFi, like on Speed Test I found results for the IP I am on now from years ago.

Also there are a lot of unsecured networks out of there as well as once which can easily be accessed.

This DOES have the word porn in it.

Bad jokes aside, this is just an example of how untrusting and rather patheticly lazy the goverment can be, no serious investigation bespite the man being BLIND, claiming to have not downloaded it, they are simply screwing this man over for no reason, the ornography supplyer, too.

Perhaps he downloaded it just for the sound, but we dont know if he did or didnt, I doubt it unless he really isent blind, but this is just an embaressing example of humanity.

Private company suing a man = Government are evil? Okay then....

But this is just wrong. You would think (well, more like hope) that a company would have the humanity to drop just one of the three thousand five hundred cases they are pursuing. And you would think the one they would drop would be the one against the blind man.

And people wonder why I'm so pessimistic....
