My cat died yesterday

I'm damn serious

My cat Hopper died yesterday,he was only 9 years old.He was once a wild cat that we rescued. We had him when I was still in Canada.

He was like a brother to me,he was a part of my family and all of a sudden he's gone, and now I can't get over his death and I don't know what to do,my cute little guy(although he was large LOL) just shouldn't have left, the cab was already too late and he already died.
He looked like he was in pain, and I didn't know what to do,so we(my mom,dad and me)stayed close to him,he suffered for a good 20 mins,he was kind yet he was a fighter, but he died in my Dads arms,we tried our best to keep him alive but it was already too late.
At first it looked and sounded like he was having a hairball, but that wasn't the case, after a few mins it looked like he began to choke, the vet checked his throat and it turns out he was chocking on nothing, nothing out of the ordinary in his stomach either.

It came down to 3 conclusions

1.He had a Heart attack
2.He had pneumonia
or 3.It was his family genetics.

Since we already coverd 1.,lets cover 2. and 3.,

The vet said that his lungs had Inflammation on the lungs, and ever since he
was a young kitten he coughed, for 8 years he had no problems what so ever but this,we had a few vet check ups but they said he was fine.
Which was not the case,Hoppers sister Maxi(which is my grandmas cat) is Hoppers older sister, she was 13 and died the same way hopper did a few weeks ago,the vet said that there was nothing that they could do but ease the pain and put her to sleep.
In 2003 a cat(from the same family as hopper's and maxi's) died in the same manner, puked out white foam and had trouble breathing.
It might've been in the genetics of his family. In 2004 Hoppers brother Pouncer also mysteriously dissapered one day,he must've had early symtoms and he must've died in the same way, which is my guess.

The strange thing is all 4 of these cats mentioned were all wild cats who were all living less than 10 feet from my grandma's house all died by the same way, white stuff(puke) coming from their mouths and hard breathing.
So it might've been their genetics or since because they were wild cats they might've eaten field mice and the bacteria carried down from generation to generation.
But Hopper and Maxi on the other hand both had regular check ups.

I just needed to get this all off my chest and I'm really sad that my buddy died, I'm just in disbelief right now,I just can't believe he's gone.

My friend who used to wake me up in the morning for food, the friend that used to sleep under the blanket with me in winter, the friend that i've spent my life with for 9 years,is gone.
He's gone, just like that, and when I woke up this morning I just recognized Hopper wasn't calling me for food, then I remembered that he died yesterday.
I just can't take it anymore,I just want my buddy back home safe and sound.
I just can't stop crying everytime I see his picture or his favorite spot to sit,his dish, his toys anything related to him, even the spot where he died gives me the blues.
He ment the world to me,he was there when ever I needed him.And I hope that if he can hear me out I wish he forgives me for not being able to do anything to stop the pain and that if there is a heaven or an after life I wish that he's there, and that he's happy and I want him to wait there for me.
It was an amazing 9 years with him,my other cat Maggie(10 years old) misses him,I miss him everybody does and I hope to see him soon.
I love you Hopper, and we'll all miss you very much.

Aww I'm sorry that your cat died. I know how it feels to lose a pet. My dog died last year and one of my birds died about three months before my dog died. Animals are close friends especially pets. As long as you took care of him, that's all that matters. You gave him a good life. He is in a happier place right now.

That's a long time. I can understand how much you liked your cat because I used to have one too that I really liked. It was probably my best friend. I had to give her away to another family due to not being able to take care of her. I understand how you feel. You probably won't forget your cat for some time i'm guessing, but that's ok.
Take care dude,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it can be to lose a family pet - I've lost two already. Both were very young dogs (two and three-year-olds). My very first dog had very severe seizures so we had him put to sleep. We figured it was better for him if he didn't suffer.

My second dog died in a very similar way that your cat did. She seemed to be having trouble breathing and she kept choking. The vet didn't know what to do, and we knew she was going to die. She would occassionally lose consciousness and fall down. We had her put down as well because we couldn't stand to see her suffer. She had been suffering for two days. We believe that she had heart failure, so that may be what your cat had.

All I can say is to keep going and try to move on. It won't take long before you'll be back in the swing of things. I'm so sorry, and I hope things get better soon!

May he rest in peace. I had a rabbit when I was younger named 'Milly' she died of obesity. Since that very day I look what my animals eat and how much.
Once upon a time, there used to be a signature. Then it got lame, and now I'm out of options for a new one.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

My cat Comet I had for years died when I was a child and it was a terrible experience for me. My cat Orchid also died about a year ago, I think from old age, and burying her was quite solemn.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm not sure what else to say.

My grandmother's cat was killed by a dog, and I balled my eyes out for days, and ate my weight in cookies three times over, too (thank the heavens for an extremely high metabolism). It really hurt, and I wasn't even that close to the cat like I am with mine. I don't think I could handle my cats dying, I'd lose a part of myself and become unstable. I'm really sorry for your loss...I don't even know what to say.

I need to go hug my kitties now...

I love cats!!! I hate when they die!! I had a really awesome cat named 'Snowball' and he was the bestest cat I had ever had. He would sleep on my head at night and he even learned to hug. He was a white cat with a cut in his left ear and he had orange spots on him. We found him under my neighbors porch dead, we took his body to the vet and she said she had two options that he could have died:
1. He was poisoned by someone or something.
2. He was ran over by a car and limped under their porch because he couldn't make it home. (It was raining real bad the night he didn't come back and he probably couldn't have heard a car coming down the street in time.) TOT

The weird thing is that my other neighbor's cat, 'Monique' was friends with my cat and she died under ANOTHER neighbors porch, I don't know about you, but I think some cat hater poisoned them. >='(

Edit: I also had another cat, 'Dandy' we got her the same time as my current cat that it still alive, 'Binxy.' Dandy's story is a sad one, some neighbors from a few blocks away came to my house with Dandy's collar, but it was chewed up. The lady said her sons were playing in their yard and found Dandy's collar. It said on the tag our address so that's how they had come to my house. My mom said she could have been eaten by a fisher or a coyote or something. I didn't know and I didn't care. I almost puked up my stomach when I saw Dandy's collar. A few tears came rolling down my face and I sat on the chair thinking about her. She was not my favorite cat, she was afraid of everything, she was indeed, a scaredy cat. (but she was my scaredy cat!)

I don't think I could bear myself if Binxy died, she has been going on 5 years that we've had her. I wouldn't know who to turn to when I'm sad. She always comes to comfort me when I cry. It's like she can smell sadness. :O

I hope animals do go to heaven, because I would love to see my deceased pets again.
Anyway may your cat rest in peace too. Many people have probably had similar experiences, I agree it's probably genetics.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear for your loss :/ No need to worry, no hateful comments will be posted. I know that if this was on Youtube or something, people would be like "It's just a cat, don't be a blank blank". People are just not sensitive. I know how it is. I love my cat Whiskers to death. She's my best friend, and I've had her about the same time span that you had yours. I got her when she was 5 inches long and 4 weeks old in 2003. Now she's 8, almost 9. She's pretty fat, I need to make her lose some weight or I'll lose her too early :/ Time will heal my friend, it's never easy to lose a best friend like that. Just remember that your kitty is in a happier place, and that some day you'll see each other again. As for now, you need to fall back on those who can cushion your hurt, like your family and friends. You'll be okay mate, just keep your head up.

I'd be glad if you'd share some pictures of your kitty, it might help you get some more of this off your chest.

Here's Whiskers, hopefully her chubby face will brighten your day up in the slightest. Posted Image

I'm very sorry for your loss, I know how difficult it is losing a pet that you've spent a lot of your life with. They become family and kind of like your best friend. I hope you recover from your loss soon, loss hurts for a long time but you'll eventually feel better.

I know how it feels to lose a pet. You probably won't ever fully get over it, but time heals all wounds. i remember i had a cat die of old age, Macey, i hated to see her go because she had been my pal ever since i was born. She even put up with me pulling her ears and tail because she know i didn't mean it. i was devastated to see her go, but life must go on. Now i have Angel, white fur and all. (i mean ALL, that cat sheds!)
Okay, since I changed my name avatar and entire DBZF image, a lot of you don't know who i am. Well use your noggin. Who Loves Vegeta? Who thinks Cell and James Bond are hot but Vegeta is her main man? Who has a life sized cardboard cutout of Vegeta? Still don't know?
