Chandler police are investigating the apparent suicide of an eighth grade student who was found hanging from a tree Sunday evening on the grounds of Aprende Middle School.

"The investigation is ongoing but it appears it was a suicide," said Detective Seth Tyler, a Chandler police spokesman.

Tyler said the boy was 13 years old. The death was reported at 7 p.m. by a citizen who happened to spot the body.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

My friend Elliott who just came back from Switzerland told me about a kid who jumped down a stairwell and fell 70 feet, trying to kill himself and he somehow lived, only to die in the hospital. This stuff happens so often, it's awful.

I hear stories like this all to often. It pains me to see all these stories, about how people just do this. I just wonder what could he have gone through to think that hanging himself was the only way out. I have met one guy though that was close to doing something like this. He was a great person but he just had a tough time at home with his parents, mostly his father.

Its just something all kids go through.
As awful as it is all kids have a stage where they think everything sucks and that life isent worth it, and some actually go through with it.
Its natural.
I can understand, but really I find it ridiculous how they see suicide as an awnser.
Its terrible how some kids are persuaded by TV and video games that things in them are decent life examples >.<
Like I know a kid who played Catherine, the amount of things that happened following that I cant really explain in the name of dignity and humility.
But he is now very lonely.
I love Tv and games, dont get me wrong, but age ratings are there for a reason.
Peer pressure sucks too.

Stories like these sadden me. And the problem is, these stories cause more suicides.

The person is feeling a massive amount of stress and/or pressure and feels like they can't handle it and they decide to end their lives. Some people mock them, saying that they couldn't handle the stress. If other people in the same situation hear something like this, they're going to think of themselves as weak as well.

I can't begin to understand the pain these people go through. It must be immense to result in suicide.

I had a very similer school experiance so I can understand and relate, but I never considered suicide as a good option, Im an optomist under any amount of stress or pressure really though, its just my nature, as bad as it gets I dont give up on life.
Still its a shame some people think its the only way.

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

I've learned not to jump to conclusions with these sort of things.

That whole, "life is what you make it" is pretty much garbage. You're born into a family, whether you like it or not, your life is controlled by someone until certain ages, you're then controlled by some extent to the law of the land where you are.

My thoughts go out to the 8th grader, and to everyone close to him.

It saddens me to see stories like such. I live in a small town of about 10,000 people, and we have had 2 suicides in the past 2 years. That may not be a huge amount, but in such a close-knit community it really hurts. Nobody had any idea that either of the boys would do it, so it came as a huge shock and literally everybody was affected by it in some way. Suicide is never the answer, it is just an easy way out. However, it isn't fair to those who love the people who do it. The stress and strain it puts on the community is horrible. My heart goes out to any family who has to deal with losing a loved one, especially under circumstances in which the person took their own life. There is always somebody to talk to, somebody who will listen.

I'll admit, I myself have been in a situation where I considered killing myself, but I just couldn't do it and I think it was because I realized that life is life and it must go on. You're only given one, so make the most of it.

I'm not really sure how to feel about suicide. I mean he obviously hated life so I guess getting out of it is a good thing?

im not one to fawn over people commiting suicide, there is always another way. But when a kid does it? its impact is different, how can a kid judge his/her own life so harshly and feel its unfit to live? surviving is the reason we are here, killing yourself is anathemic to our survival as a race.

For a child to say f-it im done with this, just really makes you think.

Well, to be honest, the world really is an f-ed up place and I think that this kid any many other kids that have committed suicide at that age are just starting to see the world for what it is. That is the pivotal age at which you start to grow out of childhood and innocence. But you have to be stronger than that. At the end of the day, you still have people that love you and something to fight for, so keep fighting the good fight. There are great things in life, if you do the right things and put up with enough bull$@!*.

There are degrees of terrible though. Some kids are made to be slaves, put in basements and they have phycological breakdowns, some lose side with reality and can even think they're nothing more than a pet.

Social acceptance is something that most people want. If it's not given one can feel that they can either live in this world alone, depressed constantly, or end it.

I'm remembering some of my sociology and phycology classes. Parents would do extreme things to their kids from selling them, phycological abuse, enslavement, physical/sexual abuse, etc. If extreme things happened to me when I was younger I might not be here now.

Never know, that's why i don't like to judge these cases.
