Do you guys ever get a cracking noise in your ear which you can make happen by tensing something in your head? It's kinda like a crisp packet noise hard to explain more than that Anyway I was sitting with cotton buds in my ears because it stopped the noise then when I got bored of that decided to clean my ears out a bit Now I can hardly hear in my left ear. Had a headphone in full blast and I could only just hear it, with one of the loudest songs I have on my iPod aswel I've heard of this kind of problem before but every single time people say they felt an incredible pain when it happened but I never... I'm pretty sure there's nothing stuck in it so what should I do just wait? |

Go see your GP if you're worried about it. It's surprising what a decent GP can find out just by asking questions and looking in your ear. |

I suppose I better if it's still that way tommow but I really hate doctors would prefer to have a solution at home I was thinking maybe having a bath to let a bit of water in its possible some of the cotton bud came off but in my experience I have a feeling that would be really sore Would really help if there was more than one mirror in this damn house |

It's just wax in your ear maybe some fluid too. It'll go away with time. Ask a pro if you need more help. |

My opinion is to tough it out for a week, then and only then if it does not get better you go to the doctor. We all get aches and pains sometimes. I myself got my ears blocked earlier this year. Lasted about a week or ten days. I didn't go to the doc either.

You really shouldn't clean your ears that way... using Q-tips and such merely pushes the wax further in. |

This would be the "dumb approach". Chances are you have an infection. The more you dig at it with q-tips, or just "tough it out" the worse it will become. Your infection is due to bacteria clogging up your drum probably. You have 2 options, go to the doctor and get antibiotics, or make a home-remedy. Most home-remedies consist of heating something like a oil and dabbing it in your ear. The worst possibility if you don't do anything is your eardrum could rupture. You would then have a permanent tear in your eardrum and your hearing would be compromised for good without other actions taking place. I would recommend a doctor. It could be something simple as "water-ear", or you could have a bad infection that could lead to worse conditions. Edited by Cal, Aug 13 2011, 07:49 AM.
