It's not really called a "seal", I don't think. Some people just prefer to call it that. |

I always looked at the Majin Sign on Babidi's victims to be a symbol showing that he is in control of that certain person. Which is why I believe that the Majin Seal remained with Vegeta even after he had died and was revived. But there is no way to really tell, I suppose it's all just opinions, |

Vegeta broke that "control" though. I do agree with what your saying though. I think though the Majin Seal was for us to know who was controlled and who wasn't. In reality it was just a signature of Babadi's work. |

They should of had Vegeta transform into SSJ3 from the seal instead. But that is just the fanboy in me speaking... |

Do you think Spopovich could've survived having his neck twisted the opposite direction, without the seal present? Goku even remarks that he couldn't sense any life force from him, so the seal had to have been responsible for powering him up and keeping him alive. It appears to forcibly draw out power beyond what is natural to them, and you can tell by Vegeta's appearance with all the bulging veins that his body was in obvious strain. Vegeta shouldn't have had that same power against Kid Buu because it's basically like using some performance-enhancing drug to improve your gains; you cannot expect to simply maintain the same results you never attained naturally to begin with once you decide to get off it. As for what Daizenshuu 4 states regarding it: "[Babidi's] forte is making people into his underlings by amplifying their evil hearts and brainwashing them. [...] while even Vegeta, who had a small evil in his heart, ended up being brainwashed. [...] Brainwashed people obtain power beyond their limits through the powers of evil, and utilize superhuman power. [...] Vegeta's evil heart is discovered by Babidi and amplified. This is painful, but his power is enhanced." Going by that, it makes even more sense for him to lose that power because he was no longer considered evil during the time he fought Kid Buu.
I wouldn't think so, the mind control aspect and the power up were shown to be separate. As Babidi states how he already had Vegeta under his control and then right afterwards opts to draw his power past its limits, causing the seal to appear.
The thing is, the name "Majin Vegeta" was never used officially, and the same with the M-like symbol that appears on their foreheads, it was never stated to have standed for "Majin" or "Madoshi' as is commonly implied. Daizenshuu 2 calls this Vegeta "Prince of Destruction" and DBGT Perfect File calls it something like "Demon Prince Vegeta". For the symbol in particular, Daizenshuu 7 states how the symbol is sealed on their forehead and sort of suggests that it's not meant to interpreted as the actual letter "M" and just merely resembles it: "Those taken in by this art, like Dabra and Yakon, become Babidi's subordinates and are denoted by an M-shaped mark sealed on their forehead." There's also a production sheet I have which the animators used for reference when making the anime, that refers to him as "Evil-seal Vegeta". So I guess you could consider the word "seal" appropriate in this case. |

I think of Babidi's Majin boost as mroe of a simple spell, which has quick effects, but not permanent. It took him no time to take control of Vegeta. Old Kai's boost I consider more of a ritual which might take a while (over a day!) but has lasting effects, having more to do with what power the receiver already had than Babidi's. |
Now, there's an idea. | |

the majin seal takes the person past their limits, unlocking their hidden power. the term limits here is referring to the natural limits the body places on itself as a safety measure, preventing the person from using their full power. all potential releases in the series just remove that limit, although if a child has their potential released (goku and gohan) their potential will recover at a later time. the differences between the 4 potential releases in the series are this: holy water is a powerful poison. no earthling can survive it. guru doesn't release it all at once. after the first large boost, the power gradually emerges as the body becomes accustomed to it. majin seal grants the body the abilities of the dead (increased durability and no sense-able life force) mystic ritual bypasses natural transformations, condensing them into a more efficient form. ssj3 has a large ki drain, as the body attempts to control energies far larger than it is accustomed to. if we bring gt into this, having a tail mitigates this ki drain. while that particular fact isn't canon, it does make sense, since a saiyan is naturally stronger if they have their tail. |

list of canon sources: the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga. list of non canon sources: everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality. for those that blindly follow word of god | |
