I used to drink those a lot when I was playing Socom Confrontation. The truth is, they made me much more alert and reactive, but at one point I was doing so well in a fire fight I thought my heart skipped or something and I felt like I couldn't breathe. So ever since I laid off that stuff. Plus, over time it starts to make you shake. smoking marijuana also enhances your awareness on video games as well. But I found that because of this your heart rate increases that much more. Then when you really get in a situation on the game that makes your heart pump hard, it can be a bad experience. Nearly the same thing that happened to me with the energy drinks happened to me when using marijuana to play. But that was a long time ago for me. I don't touch any of that stuff anymore. It just ends up messing you up. It's better to play straight. |

Well, I have always been attest to people who say video games kill. Of course, if you are really that obsessive with video games then it could be deadly. However, I consider myself an avid gamer and I play about 4-6 hours a day and sometimes more depending on what is out. For example, when MMO's are around I seem to play those much more than I would with other kinds of games. Even then, I have never sat and played video games for anymore than like.... 10 hours a day really. I am also in good health despite how much I have played those kinds of games, so I suppose it doesn't matter. If you literally sit for 3 days straight and play games and don't even take breaks to relax and hang out with friends or something... than there is something wrong mentally. Also, why couldn't the parents step in and tell him to get off the game. Seriously, if I played that and my mom stopped me after playing for like.... 24 hours straight without sleep I would greatly appreciate it. All in all, its stupid. |

Alright I'm a girl who plays video games and likes to enjoy them. However, I find that these stories with people getting obsessed with video games happens to a lot of young boys. I'm not really sure why. I'm not saying it hasn't happened to girls, but recently it's been just guys. I think that the news is going overboard with the video games killing people stuff. It was the guy's fault for playing so long in the first place. The sad part is I kinda do blame some video games for the state of the United States is in with obesity. I'm not saying it is all the video games fault because it's not, but these parents now and days buy their kids rated r video games for their kids and other games that require lots of play time in order to be finished. Not just that, but I rarely see kids now and days play outside. When I was their age, yeah I'd play some super mario, but most of the time I was playing outside. I was playing all types of sports. Now video games take up kids' lives, which is sad. You have games like WoW that require hours upon hours of playing in order to get somewhere. It's just sad that people have to beat those games in order to feel accomplished in their lives. There is nothing wrong with playing video games because I do myself, but you have to set up limitations. |

It's because it's an escape from lonelyness Playing a game is alot easier than making friends so people tend to steer towards playing games because they don't let you down so you become dependant on them to satisfy your need for mental stimulation Guarentee that every "hardcore" gamer wouldn't play half as much if they found themselves a proper friend or bf/gf to hang out with But the reality is people are too afraid to try So it's not really the fault of the games it's the people being to lazy or scared to try something new for a change ... I know I'm one of them but not like seriously bad I have some control just not enough to break the cycle

I just want to know why it tends to happen to more boys than girls. I mean there are girl gamers that are obsessed, but you read more about guys that it happens too. Yeah it's easier to just spend time with online friends and stuff, but that doesn't mean you can't take care of yourself. Exercising and eating right are all part of taking care of yourself. I don't have many friends, i play games, but I still take care of myself. If kids are that lazy now and days, just imagine how they are going to be when they are adults. I'd play outside by myself when I could. I always thought as being inside as some kind of punishment. Now and days kids don't think like that. It's sad when I see teenagers that are overweight. They are at the peak of their lives, and they are wasting it away on video games playing more than they should. They need to set their priorities or else they are never going to get anywhere in life. |

I would say it probably has something to do with women namely teenagers having more to do in life Sounds silly but little things like discovering make up the sort of thing you look to friends/family for help with Boys don't have anything like that puberty is just an inconvinience As for people who get fat before being teenagers that's down to the parents or just undiagnosed social disorders or the lazy virus that seems to be spreading |

With the release of Competitive Multiplayer games such as Call Of Duty, I notice that these stories have been more frequent. I'm not at all trying to be sexist but it seems like male players play COD more frequently and for longer periods of time than female players. The mindset ''only one more game'' is problematic. It's never that, it's always at least 10 or 20. You lose track of time and before you know it, it's been hours. |

I mean all humans are competitive by nature, but it is stronger in men. If they can't compete in sports, they will find another outlet to compete in. I guess that's why COD is so popular. I play COD all the time and sometimes I get frustrated, but I'm no where near addicted. I know that I still got a life to maintain. I play it sometimes or watch it on jtv, but I still work out and do what I got to do. There are too many people out there that get addicted to the game. I guess because they get a satisfaction from it that they don't get in sports. Anyone can be good at COD if they play long enough so I guess that's why kids especially play so long. It just ....i don't know. I can't describe in words how it makes me feel when I see a young person obese or overweight. I feel bad for them, but at the same time I feel angry at them for not enjoying their youth and playing outside like all kids used to do. I remember I would jump rope with friends outside. I NEVER now and days see kids jump rope even during recess. I see them sitting or walking a little bit. If I couldn't jump rope or play soccer during recess, I was a mess. As for puberty and guys not having much to look forward too, that is false in my opinion. Girl's bodies change SO MUCH when they go through puberty. I was thin, but by 12 I had big hips and thighs that were hard to get used to in the beginning especially playing sports. Then I had to deal with having a period every month while working out. You know how annoying that is? Men have careers in professional sports if they are good enough. They have plenty to look forward to after puberty. Some men resorting to video games is just an excuse. The kid dying is just careless and dumb. |

I agree, you have to feel sorry for these kids but you have to be angry with them as well. Not to sound like an old man but it was better years ago. Sure, you'd play you Gameboy or NES or whatever game console you had every once in a while but you'd mostly go outside and get actual social interaction. Talking to someone over a mic isn't the same as talking to them in person, you don't get the benefits of talking to the person face to face. If somebody can get good at something more easily than something else, they'll usually go for the easier option. Their choice is completely dependant on whether they're weak-willed or strong-willed. Sadly, a lot of people today are weak-willed. People need to play games in the spare time they have in their schedule, not base their schedule around playing their games Your last statement is blunt and true. |

I think the most I played a game once was like 9-10 hours. But I didn't sit there the whole time I would do push-ups in-between games and go to the bathroom and stuff. I was playing with like 4-5 friends too. I think it's border line retarded how some people just sit infront of a computer/console and not move cuss there so hooked. They sit in one spot so long that they get a blood clot and and goes to like there heart, lungs, or brain and kills them. Im not trying to come off rude but I mean I can barely play games anymore for more than 2-3 hours without taking atleast a 1-2 hour break. |

Most I've played video games for is probably like 3 or 4 hours fifa 2004, fifa 2006 or Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on wii. Last 1 not so bad since it involved a decent bit of movement. However I've watched Dragon Ball from like 10pm-8am before probably lol. That's probably worse. Also wth my dads making a call and the music on while he's on hold is f-ing stupid....berlesk house or something |
