I tell them I'm 14 and they automatically think I'm stupid and think I like Justin Bieber.

Automatically? Are you sure about this?
My point was most people can't take me seriously knowing I'm so young. I mean, not everyone is like this of course, but I've dealt with this a lot.
That's true people might underestimate the depths of your understanding at that age. I can vouch for that too, but I won't lie to you, your still in a certain developmental phase.

Come on, seriously?

You sound like a typical 14 year old just by saying "I'm more mature than all those other 14 year olds, I should be allowed to do xx and yy because there are more immature 18 year olds."

If I had £1 for everytime I've heard someone under 18 say that, I'd be rich.

Newsflash, you are immature, you are still developing as a person and well, at 18 people are still developing too, some don't stop till either earlier 20s.

What am I supposed to do to get away from all of the bull*****? Spend my night studying Algebra or Geometry? No way in hell.

Yes of course, all the people who are, as you put it, stright edge, study algebra and geometry! I mean, I couldn't get enough of it when I was 14! Forget going to the cinema with friends, algebra and geometry all the way!

Come on, there are loads of things to do.

In a way, people telling me that I need to be a certain age to do something or I'm to young to do something makes me want to do it more. It's just like a giant "SCREW YOU, I'll do whatever the hell I want to do."

Life only gets tougher, when you are old enough to do those things, you'll get bored of it.

What's stopping people from going out on the streets? I used to play in the streets when I was 14 and that wasn't that long ago, you know, water fights in summer, cycling, sports and verious other things, there's nothing stopping you.

There are age limits on things for verious reasons, you could go and do your own research about this if you wanted.

But yeah, get over it.

I can look at myself just 3 years ago and I was vastly different. I was much more stupid and immature then. I'm sure I'll think the same of myself 3 years from now too. I still do stupid and immature things all the time. I'm always changing, not always for the better, and I've still got a lifetime to evolve. But I never said and I really don't think that I'm more mature and smarter than everyone my age. There are plenty of kids my age and even younger that make me seem like a dirty little monkey compared to them. There are always and will always be people smarter and more mature than me, forever. I do think I am mature and somewhat intelligent compared to some kids my age, but not all. Not even by a long-shot. I mean, the only numbers I've got memorized of my times tables is 1, 2, 3 and 5. I'm not that great, but I'm working on it.

Yes there is

They class that as vandalism with water fights half the time if somebody complains that a water balloon hit their window then the people have to stop

Can't stand about the street even just talking with your friends "loitering"
Why should people have to have organised fun?

Not everyone under the age of 18 is a anti social yob but we all get treated that way at least in the UK anyway, which just pushes people to try other things for some fun i.e smoking drinking alcohol drugs etc because hardly any fun can be had without them

Ugh, I hate that the whole "trust me, when you get older you'll want to be young again"
Partly true but being a teenager is one of the most horrible periods of anyones life

Quote:

I'm not going to sugar coat this: Adults tell you that high school is the best time you'll ever have because they've forgotten what it was like. They just remember the part where they didn't have to worry about bills, and their hindsight becomes so focused and narrow that it couldn't see the period at the end of this sentence.

The truth is, for many if not most of us, high school is one of the most difficult times you'll ever live through. At that age, you're expected to act like an adult while gaining none of the benefits of adulthood. You are criticized for virtually everything you do by just about every adult in your social and family circle. You're expected to start holding up responsibilities, but under their rules.

Everything I said above about how you need to be yourself and grow into a fully formed human being before your life can really start? Those teen years don't make it easy. If you look at porn, you have to hide it. If you hang out with friends that your parents don't approve of, you have to cover it up. When you go out, you have to be home by their set schedule. The house is decorated their way. You eat what they cook. You dress to their standards. You lose every argument because "You're only 16, you don't know what you're talking about yet."
Do I need to say where I got this?

Call me immature if you want, but that article speaks sense
Now I'm not trying to say yeah man no more rules let us be able to do ANYTHING WOOO!! Be free spirits and all.

But being a teenager does suck unless you have parents that just dont bother with your existance

So uh, don't throw water ballons at peoples windows? Use you back gardern? And open space? There is plenty of room, you're just making excuses.

As for the standing around, do it where you live? It's your house then, no one can say anything.

There is plenty to do, you just don't want to admit it.

Well they do still complain lol, too much noise or just the general being there everyone gets paranoid that you will rob their house, thats what all teenagers do

Quite hard not to hit a window by accident, people basically say you have to have deadly accuracy and never miss people or its bad and you're not allowed

No theres not really the things to do arent things many people enjoy there are certainly no proper group activities that are legal and fun, closest to that is golf
Where the adults take over and get drunk

What are people with no money supposed to do? Quite a lot here can't afford a bike or to go anywhere aren't allowed to do anything else without being discriminated against

Die?

You're arguing with someone who was brought up in a council house whos perants couldn't afford much of a holiday and got most things second hand, so don't bother bringing money into this. I had a bike, my mum got it as a suprise from one of the jumble sales at my primary school, this was before I was 14 of course, I would have been about 9, but eitherway.

The problem is, you don't know how to have fun, you're making excuses, it's not the fault of the people around you that you can't have fun, if you have friends, then you should be able to work out something to do.

Play some board games, card games, run around playing some other game, I could keep going on but that defeats the point.

I had no money when I was younger, I didn't even have accsess to the internet at home till I was 15-16.

So yeah, don't give me all this nonsense about how you're a poor kid with no money being discriminated against, you have a computer and accsess to the internet, you're not doing that badly.

I know exactly what you mean.. Except, my reasons for this is the usage of nicotine. I'm 16 and can't buy a damn cigarette or Black & Mild.. But, it is what it is. (I'm not addicted.)

I'm seriously LOLing at this thread right now. Especially the last posts by Steveboy. I mean, come on, seriously?

Here's a brief summary of my life up until now:

I'm your standard teenage girl. I'm seventeen years old. Up until just recently, I moaned and groaned about the same exact things you guys are whining about right now. I wanted to grow up. I wanted to go off to college, get a job, start a family, and get away from my sucky teenage life. I felt mistreated, and when my parents and other adults said that they wished they were a teenager again, I wanted to punch them in the face. Sure, I've been pretty lucky in life. I get pretty much everything I want. I have to do some stuff on my own, but most of the stuff I get is handed to me. But I've learned so many lessons in life, it's not even funny.

I have the same problems that every other teenager in this thread has posted about. I've been depressed. I've wished that I could just grow up, that the laws weren't restricted by age. That I could go out and do whatever I want, whenever I want, with no consequences. I've always wanted to make my parents proud of me, to the point where I've even been near depressed over it. I want everyone to love and respect me.

But guess what? I'm almost an adult now. And it sucks. Bad.

I've realized very recently that even though I've had a terrible time in high school and been depressed most of my teenage years, I've had it easy so far. Kid, all I should really say is this: once you actually do grow up, you'll want to be a kid again. Hell, even high school is better than half the stuff life's gonna throw in your face later on. You've got it easy. Sure, you may be depressed. But just you wait.

I know a lot of this is probably stemming from me getting mostly everything I want, and then being thrown into a world where I have to supply everything myself, but that's not the whole truth.

Just wait until you have to worry about college. Where should I go? What am I going to do? How am I going to make money? How am I going to survive, let alone get my degree? And then, after college. Who am I going to marry? Where am I going to live? How am I going to save up enough money to support myself and my family? How am I going to keep them alive? How am I going to pay my bills? What about the diapers? How will I pay for them? Insurance? A new car? The list goes on, and on, and on, and on...

I'm about to go to college, and I wish with nearly every fiber of my being that I could just have a few more years at home to grow up. I'm not ready. I won't be able to make it. I'm scared.

Just wait until you're at that point in your life, kids. Then things won't seem like they are now. Then everything won't be handed to you. Your clothes, your bed, your room, your food, etc, etc, etc, etc. Get my point?

Sure, we're restricted by law, but come on. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't even matter. You've got a lot more things to worry about.

You've got a lot of growing up to do, kids.

Porn? It's the least of your worries.

Theres plenty of legal stuff you can do. Hang out with your friends at the mall, play video games, go online, go on DBZF, talk to people on DBZF, post about how you hate being 14 on DBZF. Stuff like that

Im 15 and what I usually do is play videogames, edit videos for Youtube, hang out with friends at the mall, rant about stuff with them, etc. If I can keep myself entertained Im sure you can too. You need a hobby

Zero explained it perfectly
Im not the most social person, I don't drink, smoke, or have sex like a lot of Teens these days. I still find plenty of stuff to do though.

My gosh, this is why lately I've not been a big fan of high school kids. I can't even walk on the street without an idiot high school kid cursing at me, calling me names try to be funny and cool to their friends, oh boy that is soooo mature.

Oh wow look at this we are complaining about the age of restriction to watch porno? I mean seriously? Is this for real? Out of all the things to complain about, you complain about not being appropriate age to watch porno at 14? Seriously? You feel discriminated against? Really? Get over it. There are homosexual people being killed in some countries because they are homosexual. Black people used to be whipped in slavery, tortured by the KKK, whats discrimination doing to you? Oh not letting you watch pornography oh my gosh how can society do that to you, wow it is so mean and evil they are out to get teenagers.

What's wrong with straight edge? I have never drank alcohol nor done drugs, therefore I am straight edge, and when I was your age young I always found things to do, I wasnt the most social person, I wish I would have been more social but I found things to do. Yes there were times I was a depressed teen ager, but guess what? I have wayyyyyy more issues now than I ever did as a teen ager to the point I'm at the biggest low of my life so far.

Also whats with 14 year olds always acting like they know so much about life? I'm 20, close to 21 and I have still soooo much and I mean sooo much more to learn. Rather than disrespecting elders and act like you know more than they do listen to them, they have been there, done that, they know more than you.

As Rogue said you are a typical 14 year old complaining about something which in the future you will forget about it. Seriously, I still can't get over the fact you are complaining over being too young to be allowed legally to watch porno, when has that ever stopped a 14 year old male? When you get older you'll realize there are more important things to complain/worry about in life.

Seteve boy you can easily have water balloon fights without being called for vandalism thats a weak excuse, I've had water balloon fights, no problems ever occurred.

P.S. This is not me hating on every teenager on the world, no just annoyed that's all. Also Steveboy and whoever made this topic I'm not trying to be an ***** to you, I'm speaking things as I see them, I'm sure you're both cool people but you need to stop having excuses and complain about weak things and just enjoy your youth. My sister is now 14 herself.

Life is different for everyone. For some their teenage years are really the best or easiest of them all, and for others they have a much better time when they are older.

In my opinion Steve has a point that teens can be restricted too much by their parents, and then life is quite boring most of the time. But I don't really see how that's an excuse to go out and "get wasted" or do drugs or something since if you actually have restricting parents then you won't be able to do those things either(unless you just do it at school I guess).

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

I'm being repetitive in my post, but I don't care, I'm bored so I'll spill my useless opinions xD

Best years of my life were high school. Why? I was popular, my parents (even though divorced) are both upper middle class, so buying things weren't a problem. I've totaled more than one car and my parents had to buy me others, etc.

Biggest mistake of high school was NOT appreciating it for what it was. Leave high school behind, go to a University and I went from James Cole to another number on a roster that no one gave a **** about. Went from my mom giving me 50-100 USD a week, to her telling me to get a job. Went from straight A's to having trouble passing classes. Went from spending every day after school with my friends talking about how I can't wait to be in the real world, to thinking to myself alone that I wish high school was still here.

I'm more depressed now, than I EVER was in high school. As a matter of fact at least 80% of people I know from my high school feel the same way. Every time we get together (which isn't much mind you) we talk about the good years. Those good years were only 2 years ago.

Here's my spill, it's basically the same thing every person here who is out of high school is saying. I advise to take our warning. Live for the moment, your moment is now.
