How strong was tien (Cell Saga)?

Something bothers me, how was Tien able to slowdown Imperfect Cell with 17 when Android 16 couldn't even touch him?

Lets say, Theorhetical power levels:

Kamicolo 127,500,000
Android 17 125,000,000
Android 18 125,000,000
Imperfect Cell (zenkai) 200,000,000
Imperfect "SSJ" 300,000,000
Android 16 300,000,000
Imperfect Cell (17 absorbed) 480,000,000
Tienshinan Neo Tri Beam 460,000,000

Keep in mind, these powerlevels are not accurate but mypoint if Tien's Neo TriBeam was able to slow Cell down and the attack itself multiplies the users power by four times, does that mena that Tien was slighty weaker than Kamicolo? or is it just me?

It's what I've been wondering as well. We are to assume that it is a complete hax move on A.T's part. Considering the Tri beam hasn't had this effect since.

I think so too. Tiens tri-beam was a big inconsistency .

I have him reasonably strong and A LOT stronger than most but no where near as strong as that.

IMO he is vastly stronger than the other Z fighters at the start of the Android saga apart from Piccolo, Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Trunks. It is only after the RoSaT and the Kami fuse when the Saiyans and Piccolo are ridiculously far ahead.

I see it as Akira Toriyama made the character strong but since the fans didn't feel the same towards Tien, characters like Vegeta and Krillen gained far more screen time and attention.

But still if we go by DBZ standards, Tien shouldn't had been able to scratch Cell.

tien made a comment in the frieza arc that he would get the gist of king kai's teachings, and use that to polish his own techniques. if that's the case, then the difference between the tri beam and neo tribeam is that the neo tribeam has elements of the kaioken and spirit bomb. in other words, tien did this:

multiplied his power with the kaioken

gathered energy from the life around him

created the tribeam with 1. his own multiplied ki. 2. his own life force 3. the life force of everything around him

fired the ultimate hax attack, and still didn't scratch cell, just pushed him around.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god

Or, he focused his beam as more of a physical force and not a "Loldisintegrated" technique this time around. I can totally understand him using this as a blast wave

This makes sense. You mean like a sound wave sort of thing right? Pushes but doesn't hurt.

I've wondered this to. I always thought Tien was stronger than what he was given credit for. He had deflected one of Gotenks Buu energy blast & I was surprised when he slowed down Imperfect Cell for soo long

It doesn't matter. He was using pure life force. You can put as much ki as you want into a Kamehameha but it doesn't kill you. If you put pure life force into the equation, it would be much stronger at the cost of your life.

I definately wouldn't put Tien or the Tri-Beam as high as it is. An attack doesn't need to be strong to hold someone off.

Weird, I was just talking about this with Teen.
To me, if he had a way to use the kaioken (which I doubt) it would be 10 million.
If he didnt, i would put his strength up higher. I dont think the Shin Ki Koho could go from barely 2x power in the saiyan saga to 1000x power after mastering it. (esitmations of course, but still)

I just think (and I'm not as smart as most here about dbz) that some attacks don't have to be powerhouse techniques to be successful. It didn't "hurt" Cell, it just slowed him down.

Krillin used Solar Flare against Dadoria, and (same equation) was no match for him, but the technique was effective because of it's nature.

The Tri-Beam is wayyyy past 2x power no doubt. In the Vegeta Saga Tien was nearly dead when he used it on Nappa.

The Kamehameha against Raditz mutiplied Goku's power by over 2x, and the Tri-beam/kikoho is clearly stronger than the kamehameha.

I put the Destructo Disc at at least 3x(Krillin uses it on Freeza 2nd form....lol I just heard the Sheesh kebab comment on youtube....*facepalm*), but more like 6 times, since it was capable of cutting Nappa(and Vegeta told Nappa to move out of the way, although Vegeta can't sense ki).

I think the kikoho is stronger than the Destructo disc or as strong at least, so it's gotta be at least x6.
