What do you mean?
Maybe you're taking Kaio's statement out of context like Cocoman? Look below and maybe you'll understand what I'm trying to say better. If not, I'll try to explain better. I know in the manga, Goku only uses the Kaio-Ken (in general) against Freeza four times: 1. To fly at Freeza during their no-hands bout. Freeza dodges and kicks him out of it. He immediately goes back to Base. 2. To get the upper hand against Freeza (still in their no-hands bout) and grab him by the tail. After that, he immediately goes back to Base. 3. He uses x10 to attack 50% Freeza once but is kicked out of it. Immediately goes back to Base. 4. He uses x20 to attack 50% Freeza after x10 fails, and then fires a Kamehameha. Immediately goes back to Base. Those are the only times he uses it in the fight. Those are the only times he has the distinctive Kaio-Ken aura. Other than that, he was in Base.
Goku's Base just got that much more powerful. It's a lot more believable than an invisible Kaio-Ken.
No, you're taking Kaio's statement out of context. He never said Goku had been using it the entire fight. That would flat-out contradict everything stated about the technique. Tenshinhan told him Goku still had the Kaio-Ken x10 up his sleeve, and Kaio said that's what he'd been using. It wasn't a "yeah, he's using it this very second" statement; it was a "yeah, he's using it to keep up with Freeza but it's still no use" statement. It couldn't have meant he was using it the entire fight because we see Goku on that page with no aura, but a few pages earlier we do see him with one, and then after that page, we see him pump it up to Kaio-Ken x20, and guess what? He's got an aura. Look at this way. We're in a fight and I'm clearly winning, so you start using your Uber Awesome Fighting Technique. You come at me with it but I pimp slap you away and you're clearly on the ground. Now, while you're still on the ground, one of your friends turns to another of your friends and is like, "Hey, he's got this in this bag still, right? He's still got his Uber Awesome Fighting Technique!" Your other friend then says, "No, that's what he's using now!" You aren't using the technique at that exact moment, are you? No, you're on the ground, so you can't be. But technically, you've been using it and you're most likely going to continue using it because it's the best thing you've got, so your second friend's comment is still valid. See what I mean?
Goku was raising his power in bursts. He wasn't using a Kaio-Ken, or we'd have been told later on, or seen an aura. Kaio-Ken is never seen without an aura. There's nothing inconsistent about it. |

Not always. He didn't announce his normal Kaio-Ken or the Kaio-Ken x10 in the Freeza battle, which is why some people are going with this invisible Kaio-Ken theory.

Yeah KP i know he was using it and that the anime is misleading about it, was just makin a point it could be they were going to fast anyway apart from the few scenes/ panels that are shown. Kaioken is always shown in the manga like the differing aura's of SSJ and SSJ2. Edited by Ryebrid, May 6 2011, 06:12 AM.
