i know that the dragonball / z franchise has spanned quite some time, but i personally feel like they were intentionally 'killing off' dbz with GT. firstly GT was only 2 seasons long. why did they make goku young again? were they appealing to the fans of the old Dragonball? throughout all 9 seasons of DBZ Goku has demonstrated so much of his power, evolving further and further as the seasons went on. with goku as a young boy again, i feel they didn't showcase goku's power and skill to his full potential. open to any and all opinions. DBZ will always remain classic but i feel like that the creators could have ended DBZ with at least a few more seasons of GT. thanks! |

A classic discussion indeed. I am also highly PISSED OFF with TOEI Fagimation. I don't know if what they did with GT was on purpose to kill DBZ off or not, but with all the crap they put into it it certainly seemed like they were trying for it. I didn't like the fact that they made Goku into a kid again. Whoever came up with that idea should be hanged...and then shot I'm afraid to say. :/ LOL But seriously, Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo should've just passed the "torch" to Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Uub. I mean, dude it was time. Gohan defeated Cell. Gohan became insanely powerful against Buu, and Goten and Trunks can go SSjin 3 when fused. Not only that, but Uub was supposed to be the new prodigy or whatever. They should've been the new hip-hop Z gang on the streetz, lol. New age type stuff, you know, bigger and better. More hip and not so old-fashioned. And then there was the problem with GT only being like what, FOUR sagas long? 64 eps or whatever? It should've at least have been 150. AT LEAST. But 200 sounds good. The only villains I truly liked, the main ones, were Baby, Eis, and Meta Rilldo. Super 17 was horrible because he is basically re-hashed and Syn Shenron was a little girl once he finally got outclassed. And Nova and Ledgic turned good. Figures, lol. Then there's Pan and Giru. Man. I felt like strangling Pan and crushing Giru with a huge hammer and saying "SNOOOOZZZEEEE." And then there were all the plotholes and oh, it was just terrible. I would rather they ignore GT and start another series from the end of Z, OR, go off in branches and explain more about the Saiyans and Tuffles, or the Changlings, or more about Otherworld, etc. Maybe they could explain more about the past Super Saiyans an stuff too. But yeah, I feel you. Lot's of horrible stuff with GT. DBZ was a classic. They probably won't ever do any better than Toriyama's stories if they ever continued the DB universe, which is a shame, because it ain't that hard to make a good story and follow the canon script from Akira Toriyama. |

hung then shot.. i agree. i was very disappointed at pretty much everything regarding GT (except SSj4 Goku ofc). as i mentioned in the start of this thread, about not showcasing Goku's power against all the enemies, i really felt that goku's power was pathetic. he has come up against countless foes through DBZ and has overcome them with incredible odds especially vs enemies like Cell and Frieza. and yet when Pan and Goku arrived on that planet at the start of GT, Goku was casting beams and kamehameha's without any of the effectiveness and pure and blissful power that was portrayed in the DBZ seasons. despite the fact that he was turned into a kid, he should have put up more of a spectacle when it came to fighting and energy attacks against the villains of GT, prior to Baby and the top-end bad guys. i liked your idea of Gohan, Trunks and Uub being the new kids on the street. haven't thought of it like that. but yes, perhaps backtracking and explaining more detail of the Saiyan race, etc. including Broly (as i'm sure most people will agree) i mentioned the demise of DBZ through GT to someone who wasn't as avid as i was with DBZ but they said, maybe the creators wanted to appeal to the die-hard fans of DB, when of course Goku was a child. it made me think, but nontheless they ended DBZ terribly.. |

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Dragon Ball Z wasn't killed with GT it was just sent off in a different direction. Honestly if you say you hate GT then your actually hating Dragon Ball regardless if its canon or not. Akira played a part in it. And anyway you should just love the seeing your favourite characters again. It might not be as good but hey if you already have the greatest how can you expect better or the same unless AT actually writes it, lol |
