I installed this today and I have to say, I am very impressed. It seems that Creative Assembly have finally made a Total War game which isn't bugged to *****. In fact it's very very smooth. I have only done 2 turns on single player campaign. But that was enough for me to know that this is a very good game. It's what I've been wanting from the franchise for a very long time. I've attacked a rebel army and I've defended my fort from an attack by a neigbouring clan. That was cool. The aggressor has to try and climb up the side of the fort to get in and the defender has to fight them off. I hadn't even fully recovered from the previous battle with the rebels yet I still won. Not that the A.I is bad. In fact it's the best I've seen in a Total War game. Normally the A.I just marches towards me in a head on attack. But this one waited for me to make the first move. The sneaky bugger even managed to flank my archers with it's cavalry. Not bad for a set of algorithms. I really recommend this game. It has a fluidity and realism like none of the others had. If you like building empires and waging war, then this game is for you. |

I bloody love the Total War games. But my pc doesn' have the spec's required for this game, which is heartbreaking. I thought it looked amazing and there's only so many times I can replay Rome: Total War so I was looking for a new one. Ah well. Any other improvements or other items of interest about the game you'd care to share? |

Graphics look better. There's lots of factions who each have their own unique specialties. For example one might have great cavalry whilst another has great archers. Other than that and the improved engine, It's pretty much a typical Total war game, only it's set in feudal Japan. Oh yeah I've just remembered it has a muliplayer features. I haven't checked them out yet though. |

I've wanted to get this too but I hope it's not like EMPIRE. That one kinda sucked. ROME was better than EMPIRE, lol. |

It is more like Rome and Medieval than Empire. It has an interesting trade system where trade partners can actually gift you with units and stuff as well as the typical cash rewards. For example I was gifted with some primitive musket men earlier. Not sure how useful they are yet though. Another interesting feature is that whilst in enemy territoty, your units suffer from attrition. I'm not entirely sure how this affects your units yet though because I haven't spent enough time in foreign terrority. Also you're faction now has a food system where if you're not making enough food for the people, then you can have famine and stuff. You can also have a surpluss which you can choose to either store for later or reward the people with. The engine is much improved from Rome and Medieval 2. I have only encountered one slight glitch so far where about 20 people got a bit stuck trying to get through a destroyed gate on an enemey fort. But it didn't take them very long to shake them selves lose and join the rest of their battallion. |

Yeah, I always wondered how my legions on Rome were getting their food when they were so deep in enemy territory, lol. But it's good to hear that things are more realistic and smooth. I actually kinda liked the way the units moved on Medieval II, except they seemed a little to slow in response to some commands. |

Well I think that's been improved from what I recall of Medieval. I have discovered something I take issue with on this game. Sometimes certain units like high ranking generals and advanced units are way over powered. Like this 1 Daimao cavalry unit for example managed to take down over 50 of my spearmen and dozens of archers before it got taken down. Then there was the 50 Samurai who forced 120 spearmen into retreat. It's a bit silly in that way. Medieval 1 was worse for this. One time, the King of Aragon single handedly forced over 300 of my men into retreat. So this problem seems to remain. |

It depends on the status of the battle, and the effect of the general's presence on the battlefield. If he has attributes that boost the morale of the troops, then he and his troops will be harder to take down. And of course, armour, weapons, and experience play a big role as well. So... I haven't played the game yet, but I guess I'll see for myself one day. |

Well it was just him on his own without any other soldiers. 1 man taking down dozens of men is a bit much. Taking forts is ridiculously easy on this game. All you have to do is bring about 3-4 units of archers, plonk them on the left hand side of the fort and fire away at the defenders. The archers should be able to wipe out most of the enemy army with mimimal losses since the enemy never leaves the fort to attack. I think it's a bug but it's a good bug
