wait, a saiyan, wanting peace? lol. regardless of how much he's grown up, there's no such thing as a saiyan that really wants peace. it goes against everything they are.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god

Goku and Vegeta are different than other Saiyans. Being around and influenced by Earthlings gives them more emotional range than the average Saiyan would have had, in my opinion.

Wolfie is right, being able to fight doesn't mean not wanting peace. Isn't that one of the reasons Goku stayed dead...because evil people were attracted to him and then tried to takeover the Earth? Wouldn't that mean he wanted peace for his family and the inhabitants of Earth?

Doesn't mean he still didn't love a good fight.

Everybody should have just had their own ending, Z sort of did that, so GT should have too...things were just left too open imo.

Although I think it's really the crap end of the stick that Vegeta finally gets to be Defender of the Earth and nothing else ever happens...I'm really ok with Vegeta living the rest of his life peacefully.

That's the point--Peace. Vegeta never had that, and although I'm sure he would be really bitter about it, I think peace is what he needed most. For him to die, peacefully, around those that love him...something else he never thought he would have...is fitting. I think Vegeta needed that, even though he never in a million years admit it. LOL

Agreed. He's seen combat all his life, the first thirty years of it particularly ugly (oh, how I'd love to see what his life was like in Frieza's army), and I think the Majin Buu ordeal took away the last lingering traces of wanton battle lust. That's not to say he doesn't still love a good fight, but he values his family much more. Though, yeah, it does suck to think that he never gets to be the hero after Goku leaves. I like to think something happened. A post-GT movie focusing on the gang (especially Vegeta) is one of my biggest Dragonball wishes.

Still... I find the DBO scenario appealing. I think if the time and setting were appropriate, Vegeta would love nothing more than to go out with a bang. What could be a bigger bang than the last two Saiyans in the universe, great rivals and good (best?) friends taking control of their own fate in one last all-out battle among the stars? Um, epic!

Characteristics of the race aside, something has to be said for individuality. Goku's always been something of a free spirit, unable to stay in one place for long even with his family. I'm not sure I'd say the same for Vegeta.

Perhaps part of it is the way each of them were raised. Goku spent his childhood in a modest house in the woods with only his grandpa to keep company, then all alone when his grandpa died. He had so much to learn about the world let alone the universe, I guess he never stopped wanting to discover more.

Vegeta, on the other hand, had already seen (and destroyed) so many worlds by the time he came to Earth, he was probably more than a little jaded. He has traveled the universe and gone to hell and back (LITERALLY), so if life on Earth is the most rewarding, why would he leave? What's really out there for him?

Also, Goku has had the unconditional love of his friends and family from the start, and they always have forgiven him for taking off, so he probably takes it for granted that they'll always be there. Vegeta's never had the luxury of giving and receiving unconditional love before Bulma and the kids so I imagine he's far less willing to ***** around with it.

well, according to gt, king vegeta was over 200 years old when he died, so how could vegeta, or any of the half saiyans be dead, unless they were killed? but it says the worlds been at peace for a hundred years, so what killed them? piccolo's dead, we know that. goku's something like a kai, we know that, but everyone else is just gone.

Really? Where? According to Akira Toriyama, the Saiyan lifespan isn't all that different from humans', they just stay in a youthful prime much longer (lucky bastards). Are you referring to the Baby Saga where Vegeta told Baby, "King Vegeta threw your people out for one reason, they were unworthy," (or something like that)? I think that particular King Vegeta wasn't Vegeta's father, rather an ancestor, possibly the first Saiyan king? I get the impression Vegeta is a name that gets passed down to the heir.

Piccolo Daimao > Piccolo Jr.

Vegeta clearly states in the manga that he enjoys peace, that he enjoys being on earth and around Bulma and the others.

Though, dosen't mean he slacks off like Gohan, Saiyan's are a fighting race.

Even if Goku had changed, he still loves to fight and train, because basically he is a Saiyan.

Once upon a time, there used to be a signature. Then it got lame, and now I'm out of options for a new one.
