Anyone else feel the new set of games this generation don't compare to the older generation? I mean the games we saw when PS came out compared to the newest PS3. What do you think about this? |

Well I don't like the PS3 so I'm naturally going to argue that PS1 was better. On the other hand, PS1 had more than it's fair share of God awful *****. Batman Beyond, Batman and Robin, James Bond: Tommorow never Dies. All horrible. This is a website where people are discussing some awful Playstation games. I thought some of the comments were lol. http://www.digitpress.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-35113.html |

Oh yeah they're were a lot of games. But I meant in general. It doesn't have to be a playstation game at all. It could be xbox, nintendo, sega whatever. Just as long as its old school vs new school. |

Mmm, I don't know. Generally there are a lot of older games I really love. Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest IV, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy VI, Baldur's Gate. But there's also a lot of new games I love as well. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, Tales of Vesperia, Persona 4. I may by the wrong person to ask, as I usually only play a game if I know I'll like it, but I can't really decide if I like the older generation games over the newer ones. |

Hmm, I dunno. I like being able to save my game and the graphics nowadays are mostly superior to anything older consoles could produce. They can also make games far larger so there's more to do. I think apart from maybe Sega Saturn, every console has a decent amount of classics. |

The industry is flooded with games that all smell alike. Every once in a while you'll get something that breaks out of the mold of the usual game. However these days it just seems companies are trying to release the next sequel, or just trying to make a game to make a dollar. As seen by the Fable series. Big Blue Box makes such hype about their games before it's released, and when it is, shortest game of all time. Not to mention all the bugs and glitches. For instances Marvel vs Capcom 3. My number 1 pick for most anticipated fighting game. Can't even begin to tell you the number of hours I racked up at the arcade on the first and second installments of this game. The second being the best. So many characters... And then this steaming pile comes out with all the fighting mechanics upgraded and modern for fighting games with so few characters... Only two unlockable characters? What the hell? I'm glad I waited to buy this game. But, you have to realize that when the PS came out, it was revolutionary with 3d graphics. Its games and awful polygonal characters were the best thing on the market. You were excited about Jet Moto, Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo, Tomb Raider... Don't lie, you were... But now everything seems that it is just a repeat of common themes and graphics. Nothing is improving. And until they come with a break through, it will all seem the same. New story, same graphics. |

Games have no changed at all The Genres are tired. God of War for example. Boss when it came out. No game really played free-form combat yet. Devil May Cry was the closest but it was by far not free form. We play a game that like Kotetsu said is ground breaking. People copy that, and you like it. But each one after ruins the feel for it.. I hate platformers now. I hate FPSes. I hate free form combat. You compare these games to the feel you had for the original. They don't compare because you had a ground breaking experience with the original. I have to pray that innovation continues to come through, or gaming will just eventually be phased out of my life. Kotetsu, MVC3 had 4 unlockable characters, not two The Sentinal, Hsien-Ko, Akuma and Taskmaster. But yeah, it's not as good as the last one. I agree. And I agree that a lot of games are just basically variations of other games. But this has been happening since consoles first existed right? Mario had several sequels, Sonic had several sequels, Mortal Kombat had several sequels. I don't have a problem with that. I think what is important is that they make each sequel like an ugraded version of the former and not just the same game with different levels.

Oh. Well anyway still... The popularity of MvC2 was largely in part to its huge roster. There wasn't a short of who you could make combos with. Oh and Fulgore, Dynasty Warriors 1-5 or whatever. lol. |

The majority of my games are SNES and NES games. Also a few gameboy games. I'll wake up in the morning when light shines through the window and just lay there and play Dragonquest I&II. Also Zelda Links Awakening. |

Basically I don't think games can get any better now unless they become more interactive(eg-wii) so as far as cool new stuff/advancements coming out old school was better. As in old school games were better for their time than "new school" games. The pokemon games basically crush all competition, and even now I'm guessing that theyre some of the biggest games around, but their basically just old games. What's old school anyway? The old spiderman game on ps1/pc was awesome. My friend had it on ps1 and then about 5 years later my cousins had it on pc. Spiderman 2 is pretty good too though. Spiderman 3 was too easy. The old sonic games sonic adventure and probs sonic adventure 2 were better than any new sonic games. New dragon ball Z fighting games I'd say are probs better but I've only seen the old 1s on youtube never played em. All the good dragon ball z games that weren't fighters came out on gameboy colour and gba as far as I know, although they do have those 1s for DS as well but only 2 games. The old football(soccer) games were crap compared to new 1s. And racing games are better now than then I think it's fair to say, but Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is awesome that's 1998 dunno if that counts as old school. WHAT THE HELL IS OLD SCHOOL?! Also wrestling games I think are better now. Online games are DEFINITELY better. |
