Concerning Roshi and Shen

Just some things I thought of while watching a Dragon Ball episode...

Did Roshi ever surpass his master, Mutaito? We've never seen Roshi use Spirit Energy, only physical senses as a limited human. As well, when Goku uses the Time Room to fight Mutaito, which is AFTER drinking the Ultra Divine Water and killing Piccolo, Mutaito easily defeats Goku. While during the 21st Martial Arts Tournament, which is years before Piccolo's re-emerging, Jackie Chun barely managed to beat Goku.

Did Shen drink from the Fountain of Youth too? Roshi's pretty old from what we know, from his drinking of the fountain, and yet, Crane Hermit still looks quite younger than him. Did both of them drink from the fountain, then?

And... old Roshi vs old Shen? :P

The Time Room is just a mental projection.

Everything in it could be stronger. I guess you could say that's why the Saiyans in there were so strong.
Since its to do with the mind i say many things whilst in there can be altered.

Like the strength of Mutaito.

I would say Roshi got stronger than him, yes

crane, tao, and roshi all received immortality.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god
