I believe officially Gloomy Sunday by the Billy Holiday is recognised as the most depressing song ever. However, whilst I am inclined to agree I'm interested in your opinions.

Here is a link Gloomy Sunday

MAGICAL GIRLS REPRESENT

A lot of Coldplay's songs are just plain up sad. But that's why they kinda work.

"Exit Music (for a Film)" by Radiohead is pretty sad. Written for, and inspired by, the title characters' suicides in the modern remake Romeo + Juliet.

You are calm and reposed, let your beauty unfold

Although I think you made a very astute choice there Ryanson, I think Radiohead have some more depressing stuff, like;
Videotape - Radiohead

That song always leaves me feeling quite hollow...

This is the first thing that came to mind, since I just started watching this anime. This song is a surreal, significantly darker rendition of a considerably happier song within the same series, haha. Not the most depressing song I've heard, just the one I could think of atm.

I have that CD, but I always play it all the way through. Thus, I don't really know any songs from it.

But listening to it now I can tell why it makes people sad.

Side note... the piano reminds me of a soap opera's theme song. Can't remind me of which.

Another depressing song for me (but in an epic kind of way) is "Good night, travel well" by the Killers. It is devastating.

i went through a pretty bad time a few years ago, and the song that kept playing through my head so bad i could actually hear it was "dont let me get me"-pink. upbeat song, but if you are already in that mood, it will drag you down to the depths of hell.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.
