Wtf is wrong with people

As soon as a black person is put into a show its seen as racist... WTF!

Akira made him black just because he wanted to. WTF is wrong with using a specific colour.

No one goes ape ***** over people being white so why the ***** cant black characters be in the show?!

Japanese aren't even white so how the ***** is it racist!?!?!?

I hate the logic of some people over matters like this

Piccolo Daimao > Piccolo Jr.

4 Kids censored Mister Popo´s skin for a reason. Cause they found it offensive. Popo is just based of an stereotype, stereotypes are fake.

Once upon a time, there used to be a signature. Then it got lame, and now I'm out of options for a new one.

so now you have to be white to be racist, huh? mr. popo was drawn according to offensive black stereotypes. there is nothing wrong with drawing a black man, just with drawing an ill spoken fat lipped dumbass as an eternal slave to the master of earth. that is the impression that the quality control people get when they see popo. i personally didnt notice it until after i saw blue popo on 4kids.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

Black skinned, dim-witted (in the Japanese version), deep voice, big lips, few teeth, and in the role of a slave to the god of their world.

Yep, so borderline! So... subtle.
After you mentioned that, it made me realize that he is in fact a racist stereotype. Geez what is it with Japanese people and racist stereotypes? It's most apparent on black people.

He is one of the best characters. Obviously , he grows some magical garden, with some magical herb.

He's a genie without wishes, cause if he had a wish, he would ask to look normal. Guarentee it! He'd want to fancy up for Kami ;) If you know what i'm saying.

Man, racism is stupid. I think Morgan Freeman said it best; the best way to get rid of racism is to stop talking about it. :P

I've never cared about Popo's skin color. Though I also haven't seen blue Popo, and would definitely prefer the black Popo. Sure, his face might be based on a racial stereotype, but I doubt Toriyama wanted to make a statement with that. He just drew him the way he wanted to.

Racism is pointless. We've been over all this stuff before. Who cares.

And I hate the fact that you aren't even thinking logically :)

Putting a black person in a show doesn't make you a racist. It's putting him into a show and basing him on negative stereotypes that make it racist. And, after listing the obvious stereotypes, it's quite obvious that some people would find him offensive.

See, you aren't even thinking. Other races can be racist. Whites can be, blacks can be (wait, those aren't racist, those are colors... *****, I'mma racist!), Asians, Europeans, Australians. Race doesn't matter -- one can even technically be racist against one's own race. Who's to say I can't hate all white people? I'd be just as racist if I said the same thing about blacks.

You're just trying to defuse the situation, I respect that. But the way you're doing it seems to be making it worse. Calm down. Think. Whether he intended it or not -- and as the Japanese culture isn't as strict or politically correct as most Western cultures, he probably didn't -- Mr. Popo could indeed be considered a racist stereotype. 4Kids changed Popo from black to blue because they found it could have been offensive. Who knew?

((interestingly enough, Jynx from Pokemon could also be racist. Take a look at her from the first Pokemon game lol)

Life is a performance, and the world is full of critics. Give it your all like it's your last show.

Man, you suckers need to calm down...what would Mr. Popo have to say about all the hate floating around here?

PS to Eater56: I've always wondered myself!

has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe Trunks just bought his sword somewhere or something? There's nothing really special about it.

Well it did manage to slice Frieza into a shishkebab so it must've been packing more power than your average blade. Hell even Zelda's sword couldn't pull off that ****.

I don't believe in power levels after the Frieza Saga. :D
Now, there's an idea.

Crazy Awesome Legend

To Eater, all he was doing was blocking their attacks with his hands held out. Once they went super he got pwned. So he's not that powerful, they were just punching his hands.

Well, first of all, they were super the whole "battle."

I think it was put in there more for comedy, like a lot of little "plot holes" in DB, such as when characters are falling when they can fly, etc.

It's only in the anime, so it's filler and therefore doesn't count.

I'm gonna make a manga with stereotypical White guys. Any guesses on how many people will complain and want me to censor it?
