The Greatest of All Time. Consider´d by many included Ali, Leonard. His skills are amazing, fast, sawing him fighting was a art. With a total record off 202 fights, 175 victory´s, and over 108 KO´s. And being practically unbeatable in the welter fight class. And having a dangerous left hook, he really, really earned the title greatest of all time. What are your thoughts on Sugar Ray Robinson? |

My thoughts are ... that he's the best. I agree. I don't suppose there's much else to say aside from that, is there? I would, however, like to see how or IF he could tame a young Tyson. |

I doubt it. He was struggling against LaMotta who isn't really in the same league as Tyson. Robinson was a good boxer. The way he'd dance and move and circle was very impressive. Yeh I haven't seen many in that weight category with such skill. It would be interseting to see how he'd fare against Calzaghe. That would be much more balanced than a fight with Tyson. Ha ha, I know it's just a silly computer game but I managed to knock out Robinson in the 10th round with Calzaghe on Fight Night Round 4

Robinson was in the heavyweight division at some point in his long career. He could at least attempt beating Tyson. |

Yeah he could attempt to but I doubt he'd win. From what I've seen of his fights, I wouldn't put him up there with Tyson, Ali, Frasier and Foreman. A class lower perhaps, such as Calzaghe, Haye, Bruno or Lacy. |

LaMotta was a middleweight when he fought "Sugar" Ray Robinson and even was a bit heavier then him. But yeah, it isn´t a big deal, considering that "Sugar" managed to beat him five times, and Jake only twice. Really? They only division´s Sugar was in, in my knowing was the Welterweight class and the Middleweight one. There aren´t many fights, showing Sugar in his prime actually. But he must´ve been great if you consider that he served as an idol for boxers, like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. Its like Muhammad vs George, everyone doubts Muhammad could win but then he played the rope-a-dope on George and beats him in the eight round. And Sugar was an master in boxing. I´d say he would´ve a pretty good chance in winning against Mike. He would be like Muhammad Ali (:D). |

Nah. I doubt he was in Ali's league. He might last a few rounds but eventually he's going down against Mr Tyson. |

Oh good god. There shouldn't be any discussion about this. Pelador, I respect your opinion but to say that Robinson isn't in the ranks of Ali is blasphemy. Tyson was no boxing god. He was an under - achiever, and Don King completely ruined him. If there was ten tiers of boxing greatness, Tyson is in Tier 3 or 2, if you count him before Don King took over. Robinson had the picture perfect left hook. He knocked out more people than Ali and Tyson fought combined. If you're a fan of boxing, then you'll know about his greatness. Second only to Joe Louis. If he's not in your P4P #1, then you don't know anything about boxing or you're just probably an idiot. |

Tyson isn't really that good compared to Frazier or Foreman. Don King (that bastard, *****, dickhead, *****face lier!) ruined him. I bet if Don hadn't stepped in, he would've been Ali material. Excuse my language though, lol!

I've thought about it some more and I put Ali at number 1 and Robinson as a close second. Sugar ray was a great boxer yes, but did he have the charisma and personality of Ali? Did he leave such a legacy behind after he retired? I don't think so. What seperates the greatest of all time from just a very good boxer is more than just the abilty to win fights and knock people out in my opinion. Would you say that boxers today are not as good as 30 years ago? I would with the exception of Joe Calzaghe and Tyson Fury. Mr Fury could go very far with the right training. |

Sadly, "The Great" Sugar Ray ended up like "The Great" Joe Louis broke. ![]() But he was very active in the fifty´s though. But yes, he never was like Muhammad Ali, out side of the ring. I think there is a big lack of potential in the boxing world today. Tyson Prime vs Ali Prime? Would be awesome to see. But i´d set my money on Ali even blind, prime Ali could´ve dominated any Boxer. IMO. He was fast, he was dancing, he was strong, had perfect endurance, a stinging jab. Just the perfect out-boxer. But i guess everybody has their own view on this subject. |
