Today would be John Lennon's 70th birthday. Because I feel like John Lennon has truly never died as his messages are still some of the most influential in our lives and his music is considered one of the best of all time... I decided to make this topic as a tribute to him. Such quotes as: "All we are saying is give peace a chance." "God is a concept by which we measure our pain." "If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace." "You're just left with yourself all the time, whatever you do. You've got to get down to your own God in your own temple. It's all down to you, mate." "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." And obviously: "All you need is love" They're so simple yet so true and have been inspiring me ever since I've gotten to know the Beatles and John Lennon. For everything he stood up for and for the art he made, I couldn't be happier to say that I'll always be a John Lennon fan. Happy 70th Birthday, Lennon. He was King of the Hippies, what a legend. It's possible that without him, music today might be a little different. Especially if the Beatles never formed. He was a good man, bit of a big mouth but his good heart made up for it. |

I liked one thing that you said, music without The Beatles would definitely be a lot different. They made music history and everything that happened after The Beatles was influenced by them somehow. Every band mentions The Beatles as one of their biggest references and inspirations. They took a lot of risks with their music, specially for their time. |

I like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. "That girl with kaleidescope eyes" Great lyrics. I used to have this compilation cd with every Beatles track ever on it. I used to love that CD. Then one day... it vanished

I want the new remastered discography of The Beatles soooooooo badly.  I've heard some of my favorite songs on youtube and the new remastered versions are so clear and amazing. Is that all you got to say about the topic? Well, if people decide to only say "happy birthday" I'll move it to the spam section. But I figured it would be nice to give Lennon this little tribute by discussing his work, messages and the ideals he fought for. That's why it is in the Talk About Anything area. I was unsure if I should post it in the music section but John Lennon was a lot more than just his music, that's why this topic is where it is. |

I don't think it's spam. I think it's a nice idea. If I did a tribute topic on my idol, Bruce Lee I wouldn't want it to be considered spam. |

I dont like the beatles, and I dont really care for John Lennon. This just seemed like a birthday topic, thats why I said it should be in the spam section. If it is a topic about John Lennon I think it should be in the music section. Also, Pelador, Its the same for Bruce Lee, if its a Birthday topic I think it should be in the spam section. I actually posted to make sure it was/wasnt just a birthday topic, instead of just moving it straight off the bat. Im just trying to do my job as a moderator. How could it just be a "birthday topic" when we're talking about someone who is already dead and is a huge icon in the entire world. It's not like I'm wishing a happy birthday to a regular member of the forum. Come on.   And I'm pretty positive his birthday would be today, master412160. |

Happy belated birthday Kris, he probably doesn't know John Lennon is dead. Most fans who are not fans just see a name. I mean I'll be honest and tell you I knew of John Lennon and his many famous quotes and lyrics but never did I think he was dead nor did I know of his music. I was in my art class when I saw the last photo that he posed for the night before he died. It was actually pretty cool |

I'm shocked that a random famous person got a birthday thread, and me, a contributor to this community, DID NOT. RAH RAH RAH. lol Just kidding. And John Lennon is COOL! He is totally alright in my book, and my book is a VERY good book. You know what. To me, John Lennon is one of many people that left this world early since he didn't belong here among mortal men. He's a god. |

He's passed away. Celebrating his birthday expired 30 years ago. I heard that once in the 1960's The Beatles toured America and the Ku Klax Klan threatened their life because Lennon said his band was bigger than Jesus lmao. |
