I was just reading up on a graphics card I quite like, the ATI Radeon 5870 Toxic. The problem is that unless I've mis understood about Power supplies mine only produces half the power I would need to run this card. My current power supply says on the side that it's 375 watts. But the Graphics card I would like to purchase needs at least 600 watts This could end up being one expensive Christmas. Then there's the fact that I don't even know if my board can handle that much jiuce or if it's even compatable with the card. I don't want to set my computer on fire. Anyone hardware experts here who can help me out? |

What are the rest of your PC specs? On it's own, that graphics card will use around 150 watts, so it all depends on what the rest of your computer is like. Eitherway, power supplies are pretty cheap. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/6-/Search.html?searchstring=power+supply&searchtype=PCSH&searchsource=0 |

375 can possibly handle all that. 550 watt PSU would probably be the highest you need to go up to. 500w: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/10136837/CiT-M-500U-500W-PSU-Power-Supply-Unit/Product.html (£17.99) 620w: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/10136792/Ace-620X-620W-PSU-Power-Supply-Unit/Product.html?ptsl=1&ob=Price&fb=0 (£33.95) 650w: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/10136881/CiT-650U-650W-PSU-Power-Supply-Unit-Gold/Product.html (£27.99) You can probably shop around for others too. |

Well the reviewer of the card said 600w was probably the minimum. I was thinking of going up to 750 just to be on the safe side. |
