Alright so the topic is as follows, if you had the money to buy the rights to make a movie based on book, tv show, comics, anime, manga, or even a remake of another movie (this would be for a live action movie) what would you choose and why? (You may not pick Dragonball)

I would purchase the rights to make a Code Geass movie because It's my absolute favorite anime after dragonball, and I believe that it could be made into a great live action movie. I would try to make the movie as close as I could to the anime which would therefore mean I would try and split the movie into four parts. Of course I would hope for success so that all four parts could be made.

You are calm and reposed, let your beauty unfold

I would purchase the rights to the Warrior's Franchise, and make the films out of them.

I've always had quite a broad idea about how it should work: many fans want Aslan-like graphics (it's a fantasy series about cats that I am very, very fond of), but the costs of this when there are dozens, possibly over 100 characters, to be animated and given a distinctive look, would be so ridiculous that any form of CGI would almost certainly limit the amount of story told from a franchise that is 27 novels and 9 mangas long, and still going. This would also be an issue if the films were to be going to a general audience in cinemas, and a lot of the gore and violoence would have to be cut down on.

So basically my ideal solution would be series of 45-60 minute cartoon animations per book, released straight to DVD in box sets of 6 (as the books are themselves seperated into series of 6), and packed with extras. The violence could remain, in the manner of animes like Hellsing, the vast majority of the story could be faithfully followed and as there are already mangas in print the art style is already mostly established.

Yeah that could definitely work, I know that HBO tends to do that with books make them into series, they did it with True Blood, and I think they are doing another series from a different series of books as well. That's the plus about series can have more of the story in it because it's not limited to just two to two and a half hours.

Thanks to your post I actually just realized, maybe my Code Geass live action would be better off being a live action series but then again a live action series would decrease the budget by a lot and making a cartoon theres no point since it already is an anime, and a budget cut would be bad since I'm pretty sure it would have to be a Transformers type of budget for Code Geass because of the knightmare frames. But if Budget wasn't an issue, a live action series would work

Crazy Awesome Legend

There's an old sitcom called The Young Ones which I'd like to try and turn into a serious drama. It's about 4 disfunctional university students in the late 1980's who all share a flat owned by a psychotic landlord. I forget his name. It's a very very funny series which I do believe could be re written as a serious drama. All the ingredients are there. The personality clashes between the characters, the landlord being a complete *****, the issues of the day ect. I think it could work.

sword of truth. i never did like the tv version because 60+% had absolutely nothing to do with the original books. i would give each book its own movie, completely scrap the tv cast none of them really match the characters except maybe kahlan. only cast member i can think of so far is katy perry for berdine. definitely a big budget deal, 12 long r-rated movies, heavy effects and action no holding back on the battle fields its meant to be gruesome, but this isnt saw or hostel. the only way to pull this off is to own the studio and say ***** the money were doing this right straight from the book
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god
