Hi guys... I wanted to know if anyone has ever seen this before? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I bought this about 8-9 years ago at a flea market. I remembered my first reaction seeing it, I was like, "WoW! This is cool!" So I bought it instantly! I've never seen a DBZ toy back then that actually moved, spoke and light up. So I knew I had to have it for my collection.Well as you can see from the pics, it's based on the Frieza Saga. The coin bank has 3 figures: A battle damaged SS Goku; Frieza in his final form, the Namekian dragon, Porunga and the 4 star Dragonball. The way the bank works is you drop the coin in the slot and you hear Frieza speak and then you hear part of thr Dragonball Z theme song. The figures begin to rotate back and forth, simulating a battle. When you drop 7 coins, Porunga talks and says he'll grant your wishes and his figure begins to move up and down while the 4 star Dragonball flashes. You can also press down on the 4 star Dragonball to make it work without dropping a coin. I've been trying to research this on the net and even e-Bay but could not even find it. It was made by MGA Entertainment and licensed for Funimation but I could not find it on either of their websites. It looks like it was made in the year 2000. So the question is, do I own something that is "Super Rare?!" |

Probably not super rare. But definitely a good find. There has been, over the last 14 years, thousands of items of merchandise that were sold in the way of dbz. The market was full of fakes and toys that just about any random company would make until funimation took over the rights to the images. Once that happened it pretty much set a standard price to anything on the market with the FUNI logo on it. What is really rare is finding the stuff without the FUNI logo on it. Then you know you have some gold. Like these fake DBAF figurines sold in brazil and places of the sort... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af-9789IdMA Also many people don't know this, but a company came out with a dragonball z card game before funimation dipped their hands into the idea. WAY before FUNI did to be exact. If you can find those cards, man... |

Hey Kotetsu.... Thanks for the info! I don't believe this is a fake though. It looks legit. If it is a fake, they did a pretty damn good job! Though I believe MGA Entertainment doesn't carry the DBZ line anymore as far as I can see on their website. Yeah... I was looking through e-Bay and there is so much, it's hard to tell what's real or not. It's just so funny because I was looking through the basement for something and I came across my DBZ bank. I had totally forgotten about it. I decided to do some research on it but could not find a thing on it. In a way it's good thing, now I know it's rare find that not too many people have... |

That can't be a fake it has Funimation logo on the box lol. But anyways that's pretty awesome, I'd never seen that haha. I probably would have bought it had I seen it. If you're a collector that's something great to keep and even if you aren't it still is great to keep. |

Yeh like a coupe of these action figures I have. On the box they spelt Bardock as Bradock. A couple of 'em broke really quickly too. Pretty shoddy quality so probably fakes. |
