Posts: 9,150 Group: Member Member #5,265 Joined: September 24, 2010 Gender Not Specified Favourite Anime dragonball/z/gt/movies What Browser do you use? internet explorer or firefox	time has 2 dimensions forwardback sideside. trunks goes back in time his jumps sideways to altered branch because his ship made it when cell stole it,so it always goes there when he goes back. he knew that, but he expected to cause the branch so everything should be just about the same so he could train under the masters and beat the androids there then go home and save his present. cell f'd that up by going 1 year further back and causing all those changes before trunks evn got there.
	list of canon sources: the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga. list of non canon sources: everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality. for those that blindly follow word of god

There are other theories however that reason that even if somehow you could go to the past it might not effect the future. There are many differing types of theories. Toriyama clearly obliged to take the path where the past does not effect the future and that Trunks actually created a differing timeline than the timeline he time traveled too. Totally logical and totally plausible to current line of thinking of traveling into the past. This is not really a big issue IMO but I understand the complexities of time travel and how interesting the issues that go with it are.
