Is it racist to say that an individual black person looks like a monkey? As opposed to saying that all black people look like monkeys which I know is racist. White people can look like monkeys too, as well as a variety of other animals. it depends on your imagination I suppose. So in my opinion it is not racist to say that a person who happens to be black looks like a monkey, especially if he really does. The reason I've started this stupid topic is because I had a debate with a person I know the other day who has a mixed race child and she thought it was racist. But I don't see how it is unless your generalising the whole race which I'm not. That would be stupid. |

Well, alot of racist white people would call black people almost everything in the book.. Considering that i'm black, I think if it was on a stereotypical level, then we can talk about it being racist... The way you explained it kind of aggravated me, i'm sorry. |

Lets not forget here that racism can go either way there are racist white people same way there are racist black people. Honestly I don't see how its racist if you're talking about the person not being based from skin color, it sounds like thats what you're saying that the person looked like a monkey because the way they looked and not the skin color, which i don't see racism. So Dark Knight if a white person looks like a monkey, thats completely fine to say? I know what point he's trying to make. Ok apologies if I offend anyone this is just an example If someone says someone looks like a monkey because they are black- that is racist. Aww man, that's the last thing I wanted to do. I just wanted to get conformation that I wasn't technically being a racist so I could prove the fat ***** right. She's a horrible person with no soul who doesn't deserve a child. The only reason she had it was because she'd already used her up her two free abortions. But that's another matter, if I was being offensive, then I'm sorry. |

The way I see it is if you are allowed to say something to one race without being considered racist, then it should go both ways. I strongly believe in equality and though as I said it is offensive to the person yes but not racism. |

Well I wouldn't say somebody looked like a monkey to their face, unless they asked me what animal they thought they looked like and I thought they looked like a monkey. I strongly believe in equality too. I studied American civil rights from 1865-1990 and what a lot of people had to put up with everyday was just ridiculous. I could never be a genuine racist after what I studied. |

Being offended does not mean its racism. I could be told something offensive too and be far from racism. Im not saying saying to someone they look like a monkey is alright, but I'm stating it depends on the context you use it that makes it racist or not. I personally don't look at skin color. I judge people based on personality, who they are is what I judge on. |

Alright thats good and dandy but in todays society when you say a person looks like a monkey they immediately think a black individual. I want you go to up to a black person and be like hey you look like a monkey, and when they freak out. Be like its not your skin color, just i thought you looked like one. See how that goes over. Now go to a white person, say the same thing. totally different. So dont give me that bs |

Why would anyone judge somebody because of their skin colour? It's something I've never understood. Green, blue, yellow, who cares? Where does the connection between dark skin and inferiority come from? It's stupid. |

The question was is it racist, not how will people react, not how people think. Question was is it racist? And I answered with no. Yes people will automatically assume it has to do with the skin color which is dumb I know that. But I was simply answering the topic which I standby what I said. I admit it is a fine line though. Which is why I wasn't sure about making this topic. On the otherhand at least I'm secure in the knowledge that I'm not technically being racist because I'd feel like a dick hole otherwise. |
