I've seen a few professional female boxing fights and I have to say when comparing them to their male counterparts, I'm not impressed. Technically, they are better boxers from what I have seen. I give them that. However, the three fights that I watched were not as entertaining as men's boxing. Granted, not all boxing matched are interesting. I've seen many boring men's fights. It's just that the women seemed too robotic, flawless and technically perfect to be any fun. It's just not the same. I know I've only seen three actual fights and the film Million Dollar Baby and I shouldn't be generalising, but still... these three fights were boring compared to evry single men's fight that was shown the same night. Don't ask me when this was or what channel lol. Was a few years ago and the thought just sprang into my head. |

Science proves that women are not as athletic as men. So I don't see your point. Obviously the more athletic bout is going to be more entertaining. And good job Zero. You passed the test. Edited by Dark, Oct 7 2010, 04:54 AM.

woah, if you are going to say that, you need to back it up. now i dont doubt that there are more athletic men than women. but on an individual level there is no difference in the amount of physical potential between the sexes, only type. example, mens generally longer legs allow them to run faster, but women have more stamina allowing them to run longer, but they end up running about the same distance. men are stronger and are able to lift more, but women are more powerful and able to hit harder, throw farther etc. assuming the same height, weight and training. men can take a hit better because of larger bones and muscles, but women have faster reflexes, allowing them to dodge better. so overall, men and women have equal physical potential, but their talents are in different areas. |

Brian's right, the Men's boxing will be a higher standard, if we're assuming that we're comparing the top Men and the top women in boxing. But the more athletic fight is not instantly more entertaining, a much bigger range of skills and talents come into it, which is why there can be fights with women which would be more entertaining than fights between men depending on which skills you value. |

The fights I watched were very robotic. I don't know whether that's just because of the individuals in the ring or a general trait of women's boxing but it certainly put me off ever watching again. Women's MMA sucks too. |

Men's legs are longer, women have more stamina, blah blah blah. All you're doing is rambling. Look up some scientifically proven facts yourself, because all of the studies I've seen before are proof enough for me. So go do your own research, and for the record, your reason for speed amongst men and women is the length in their legs? I was five foot freaking seven, and I ran a 4.7 forty yard dash my sophomore year of high school. You also must not know about many short athletes that are absolutely lightning fast. Wait, am I actually sitting here wasting my time what the hell. See you. |

That is true. My brother was less than 5,6 when he ran 200 meteres in under 13 seconds. Me too actually. Leg size doesn't always mean more speed. |

that was in general. men are generally faster runners because of longer legs, but of course some individuals vary from the average. post a link to these studies youre talking about, i want to see this. dont hide behind studies you arent willing to show |

Hide? No, YOU don't hide behind laziness. www.google.com You may start there sir. And I still think the comment about long legs is hilarious. |

i said the actual study, not another forum of peoples opinions. and both of the forums you posted dealt exclusively with strength, not athleticism, which is completely different. what i said was stating that men and women have equal overall athletic potential, but have different advantages. now either come up with this "study" you've mentioned, or shove it. |

Men´s are bigger and mostly often muscular build then Females, that isn´t sexist or feministic its just evolution. However back on topic. The last fight i saw with Females fighting, was Laila Ali vs Tayler. |

Female boxing might not be as entertaining as male boxing because it hasn't been around as long. The trainers that take the time to teach Female boxers might not be good ones either. All the great trainers usually dedicate their time to the men. The same goes for any female sports. Most of the coaches I had except for two or three knew exactly what they were doing while others had no idea about soccer or how to train a woman correctly. It seems women get the wannabee trainers. Women's bodies are different, which is why they need to be trained accordingly. Also, women are slowly catching up to men in atheletic competitions. Some may never catch up to men in the strength category, but the gap is slowly closing. Women were not allowed to compete in sports for a long time, and it was looked down upon for a woman to be athletic. It's recently that women have taken their interests in sports. Even today, it is sometimes looked down upon. I had many male athletes tell me that I was a lesbian or call me names because I was good at sports. Anyway, the times are slowly closing. The times used to be like 25 seconds apart, and is now around 6 seconds apart. Edited by Pookie, Oct 13 2010, 08:48 PM.

Being a boxer myself i have trained with, sparred and watched female boxers at work. Technically they are fine and they tend to think more about what the are doing so can look very neat and tidy when the contest, maintaining form throughout. Stamina wise they are ok and can set a decent pace with maturity. This comes across in the 'robotic' manner they box in. Ive watched a female boxer of 25 train for over a year weighing in at 8 stone get overtaken and outmatched by a boy of 13 of the same size who has trained for only a much short period of time. The differences are just amazing sometimes. Its like woman lack that raw edge neeeded, ive seen them go crazy in a bout and throw hell-for-leather but it only looks impressive cause all their emotions spill out from there faces, really there is no impact. Ive sparred woman and tagged them with light punches compared to what i would throw at a guy and ive seen them crumlbe. They seem to lack that natural ability to relax and flow with the punches, avoiding them and if need be taking, absorbing and brushing off the effects. They can lack that awareness in a fight. When it comes to training they can take it more serious, ive seen them do really well in certain exercises, its like they have the patience to tough out what i call 'stress-exercises', things like lying on your back and lifting your legs straight out, 6 inches off the ground for minuets at a time (meant for tensing your stomach mucles, developing core strengh). Guys can get bored and just give up but if it becomes competitive that changes and they will push themselves harder. |
