http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_European_Baseball_Championship Had anybody caught or heard of these games? I watched a few games. It was a fun tournament to watch. The game was a little different for me to watch with European teams playing than it is in the Major Leagues. The best teams played like the best, Italy beat Holland 8-4 in the finals, those two teams are probably the super powers of baseball on the old continent. |

I would take most Major League teams against those countries, I bet a lot of major league teams would beat every country in there, no offense to them but they aren't really baseball countries. I mean come on how any famous French, German, Greek players are out there. But non the less I wish I wouldn't have missed it, was probably a fun tournament to watch |

Well you're absolutely right. Europe doesn't stand a chance against USA when it comes to baseball. I remember last year during Spring Training the Mets played Italy (current European champs) Italy took a quick 2-0 lead, but the Mets came back to beat them 3-2. THE METS, the team who can't keep up with just decent NL East division! I know the Dutch players are mostly domestically produced, but I know there are many Italian-Americans who played for team Italy on various occasions. If you remember during the Baseball Classic of '06, 23 players on the 30 man Italian roster we Italian-Americans! lol! Edited by Mc Esse, Aug 9 2010, 07:02 AM.

Yeah I know Italy ussualy has a few players that play MLB, Mike Mussina could have played for Italy. Cervelli could have played for Venezuela I believe or Italy he chose Italy, its actually one of the fewest countries in Europe that has major league players, Netherlands I believe have Andrew Jones and someone else that I forget who. But yeah thats like the same as Real Madrid playing against team USA in soccer, Real Madrid would win that game lol |

I could be wrong but Netherlands only had one (former) MLB player. Gene Kingsale, an outfielder. His career in the majors isn't really big. His profile claims 3 home runs and 53 RBIs. |

Andruw Jones is from Netherlands as well lol, and hes a pretty famous Major Leaguer. I don't remember if he played for them or not, if not it was most likely due to injury

Lol. He couldn't play for them because of his duties with the Sox. No current major leaguers would get sanctionned to play in a European tournament in this time of year. . As bad as we said the European teams are, Netherlands beat the Dominican twice during the last World Baseball Classic. The Dominican are a baseball powerhouse, one of the strongest rosters in the world and many Dominicans are in the Major Leagues.

I meant play for them on the world baseball classic, wait I dont even remember if they were in the world baseball classic, I just checked they were in the 2009 classic. I mean I know for a fact no major leaguer would go to Europe for their tournament, since the MLB is way more important Edit: He was in their roster for the 2006 classic but not the 2009 Edited by -Zero-, Aug 9 2010, 07:44 AM.
