Did a martial art class when i was 10 years old called ''ChiKwonDo'' and it was some sort of mix of martial arts- judo, karate and some other styles all mixed into one- Packed it in though 6 months (blue belt level before i left) when i felt like it was a bit of a joke and not something you would really be able to use in a proper fight-
This especially grew after we did some very light (basically touch and you get a point) ''sparring'' and my opponent 'hit' my training Gi or even just my belt and was awarded a point- BULL!!

Outside of this was fun to do though for a while and got you mixing with other people of different ages, kept you fairly fit.

At age 21 i took up amatuer boxing and after i developed my fitness and confidence through this, i grew to like it a lot and found it great to train in. Very hard training and i was always sparring with bigger more experienced guys, so know ive got a chin and a lot of heart (i wont quit and will keep moving forward), bit like a wolverine taking on my larger opponents. Makes me fight harder and when i fought people my own size i found them to be kinda easy in one sense (didnt hit as hard or handle my pressure and power) but trickier too (cause they had more movement and faster hands footwork). Much respect warranted.

Won some of my 24+ fights in the ring (50/50 record- been told my style is more suited for the pros as im not much a point scorer just a fighter tearing to hurt my opponent who takes shots- so therefor id lose fights cause the other guy tagged me more/cleaner- times ive lost a fight and not even been hurt or tired but couldnt hit my opponent).
Stopped a couple of guys, went the distance with a former champ in Semi-Final of a tournament (lost badly on points but i kept fighting from start to finish) and even won a Gold in an abroad tournament in a close, hard fight against a fellow Scotsman in the final who was a previous 5 time champ in Scotland in my fourth year boxing.

Recently from age 24/25 i took up Muay-Thai and im still really just learning how to use my body in a different way from boxing and how to throw effective powerful kicks with the shin and use my hips for knees and to change my stance for balance and defense. Having the fitness and work ethic mentality from boxing ive been able to advance fairly fast in this style.

Training till maybe i can fight in the ring which im looking forward to.

Wow, Thats great, Well i started Karate when i was 10 i was extremly clumsy at the start, Like every other newcomer i started with the first training Kihon then with Kumite and with Yakusoku-Kumite, Jiyū-Kumite, Randori, and finaly Kata, It took me 7 years to master karate not only self defense but its history to and learning the styles of Kata: Bunkai, Ōyō, Henka, Kakushi, Since i was very clumsy it took a long time, But i master it and thats the good news ^_^ , What i learnīd from it was to become calmer and only use the Karate for Self Defense never for something else, So today im 19, So i basicly ended it with 17, So to Taekwondo, I just started with it since i wanna join the MMA with luck :P, I wanna learn this to, So i will probably add my Progress to this topic.

I love MMA. I practise in front of the mirror and also imagine I'm fighting a real opponent. I'm getting quite fast too. My fitness lets me down though and my lack of physical strength too. Plus I have a glass jaw and bleed like a sacrifical lamb. So I would be no use in real MMA or any combat sport but it's still fun to pretend.

I watch Cage fighters on tv and they're insane. The way they get cut and injured but carry on fighting regardless. Wanting to beat another man to a pulp like that is pretty nuts too. I've seen huge gashes and blood everywhere, a broken arm, a twisted foot. It's barbaric but I love it :)

Trust me mate when your in a fight and you feel those injuries occur (half the time you dont even notice till you see a fleck of red and you realise theres blod gushing from somewhere) it doesnt faze you, just makes you fight harder and meaner.
Especially if it might mean you LOSING the fight cause of a stupid cut that is annoylingy just over your eye. Your going to do eveything to knock your guy out.

Really you want to win your fight ASAP taking minimal damage and inflicting maximum carnage with minimal effort, but should your opponent step up to the plate and match you step for step its going to be a longer more fun fight that will stay with you years after the months of recovering from injuries do.
Generally guys are matched up with opponents in the ring who are roughly in their league, so often the fight isnt so one sided.
Still of course we will see those fights where a man is being outskilled and beaten but will not stop and keeps fighting on through it, we all know hes lost but he isnt going down and making every second for the better man hell, making him work and earn his win.
These are the fights we love to see a man with pure talent and skill versus a man with raw heart and determination.

Being a fighter in the ring i have a deep appreciation for these things and greatly respect all the people who take part in it.

Due to personal/familial problems, I had to leave Tae Kwon Do after maybe 3 years. I'd love to go back, see if anyone remembers me.

I memorized maybe 8 patterns ("katas" in japanese, maybe?) before I left, and was up to a high grade blue belt.

Different federations do things differently -- in ours the colors were white, yellow, green, blue, red, and black.

I also remember reading a book, for fun, about the history of the martial art. Also, spending a summer at a camp specifically for Tae Kwon Do was cool.

Is it practical in a real life fight situation? I know that some martial arts only work when rules are put in place and in a real fight, they're not so useful. E.G Boxing, Muay tai, Kick-Boxing, wrestling, Ju-Jitsu ect.

Hmmm... I would say that Karate is for self defense its basicly the classic self defense martial arts you can learn, Tak won do isnīt really something you can use against somebody who dosenīt have any martial arts exp. since a good focusīd kick can break your neck.

It may -- at the summer camp, and maybe twice in class, they'd tell us what to do in some real-life situations. Just basic self-defense stuff. Mostly, I believe in martial arts the main thing is about self-discipline under the guise of self-defense.

Also, I learned that a well-placed axe kick is powerful enough to break/shatter the collar bone. However, an axe kick is pretty obvious to see coming, and if you mess up you risk doing a lot of harm to your foot.

I do kickboxing and boxing, used to do ninjutsu. I packed that in because it was a joke. There is a kids class and adults class. I'm in the adults class even though I'm only thirteen. Lol. :w00t:
I'm not afraid to fight, and have fought in front of a couple of people. I fought in an event in front of roughly 90 - 100 people. I won.
I also do boxing to keep my hands sharp.
Here's my record:
Three wins.
No losses.
One draw.
The blonde girl with the black lips turned to Valkyrie.
"We know," she said. "We've seen the future. We know you're going to kill the world..."

Release it Gohan! Release everything! Remember all the pain he's caused... The people he's hurt... NOW MAKE THAT YOUR POWER!!!!
