i never understood this. and again, could be a stupid question that could be answered with simple logic.
but, when they wish back every one who was killed at the hands out frieza, (i think it's either the last wish they have with porunga on namek, or it's the wish they make on earth.) would that not bring back EVERYONE who was ever killed by frieze (i.e the saiyans, king vegetal, bardok, and all the gang.) i've wondered that ever since i started watched the show back in like grade 4. and could never find an answer..is there an actual reason for this? or was this just left out?

please discuss.

if this has been answered already i apologize..but it's still a puzzle to me.

Crazy Awesome Legend

The Dragonballs can only wish back people who have been dead for a limited amount of time. I can't remember what the exact length of time is but I'm sure it's mentioned somewhere.

well, that would explain it, i'm sure it's less than 20 years, as frieza said. that sucks though.

I think it's like 3 years limit maybe. Not that much time.

I've adapted the DBZ anime by editing the anime seasons down into feature films.

thought it was the number of minutes he was declared alive before dieing of wounds...?

EDIT: porunga is the namekian dragon, so im pretty sure that piccolo knows everything about his terms of wishing.

yeah, i have no idea really about the wishes, i just thought it would be sweet if they did something with that in terms of maybe all the saiyans were wished back and then made some movie about it...but i guess they clear that up when they're trying to wish back goku and krillin after he kills frieza
...saying that you can't wish them back because there's no where to wish them back to...planet vegeta was destroyed, and the bardok and his men were killed in space/king vegeta was killed on his ship...

Shenron can only bring someone back if they died in the past year, this was stated by Kami. And the wish to revive Freeza's victims was made to Shenron. However I'm not sure if Porunga has a time limit, since two Namekian years had passed before they revived Tenshinhan and Chaozu. I'm not sure if anything was stated, but it probably does have a time limit since Baba and the Supreme Kai said that Goku could never come back to life (they didn't know about what Old Kai could do).

The question about that wish that I had was why didn't it revive the henchmen that Freeza, Zarbon and Ginyu executed? I know most of that was filler, but in the manga Zarbon did kill at least one henchman. I'm sure Toriyama just forgot about him!

Shenlong has the year-limit thing. Porunga, however, obviously does not. I can't remember, but I believe it is even said, though I couldn't tell you if it was in the manga or anime. Obviously, though, the end of the Namek saga proves this point.
But, yeah, there might be an eventual limit.

has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe Trunks just bought his sword somewhere or something? There's nothing really special about it.

Well it did manage to slice Frieza into a shishkebab so it must've been packing more power than your average blade. Hell even Zelda's sword couldn't pull off that ****.

I don't believe in power levels after the Frieza Saga. :D
Now, there's an idea.

ill try andf end this with this....
its the number of minutes that the person thought that he was going to be dead plus how many days that they were sick of not 100%. or 2 years. damn its hard becuase i wqas reading some thing abot dbz and i got confused- there is 2 different time limits. or more. i know those 2 and 5 years.
i am Jor darth okay! i forgot my password...

i believe shenrons limit was that he could ny bring back multipe pople if they died within 1 year of each other and had a shared cause of death, and until the buu saga porunga could only bring back 1 person at a time because the nameks didnt believe in resurrecting the dead unless absolutely necessary
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god

i think you can only wish back someone who died less than 3 years ago, but if your wishing back more than one person they all had to die within one year. plus it is said that once a persone is wished back they will return to where they died (even though Goku and Piccolo stayed on king kais planet) so the saiyans would just die again in space where planet Vegeta used to be.
