Ever set yourself rules for life?

So basically I mean like rules as in things you would and would not do. I have set myself so many rules trying to be someone that tries to do the right thing and etc that I thing I may have screwed myself over. The problem with me is that once I set myself a rule I refuse to break it, I feel like it's the same as breaking a promise and I don't make promises I can't make due. Monday I was told that I made too many rules for myself and it's one of my bigger problems right now. It got me wondering if making all those rules was really worth it. Everyone else that I know doesn't seem to have these same rules, they don't seem to care about the same things I worry so much about. So have you ever set rules for yourself? Did they benefit you or destroy you? Mine I think have destroyed me, seems like people tend to be more attracted to the rebels now a days

I'm not going to go into these details about myself. But I did want to say that it's pretty important to set standards for yourself, Considering you have no form or basis of which to live by. I'm sure you know what I mean when I say this.

Yes its true that you need to set yurself standards but I'm starting to wonder to myself if perhaps I just made too many of them and because of that I'm in a depressing mood all the time now. I've changed so much now adays too, in the past I would never talk about myself now I'm constantly talking baout myself and revealing my emotions, it's just not the way I am and because I haven't been me I'm starting to question so many things about myself. I probably just made no sense but ok lol

I think it's very important to set your own standards and rule in life. However if you're not happy with them, then there's no reason to follow them. I'm sure you're happy following some of your standards, so just follow them and be a little bit more leniant on those that make you unhappy.

I set rules for myself all the time. I just never really follow any of them. I mean I try to, but I always end up slipping lol As far as your situation you probably do set too many. You gotta let loose from time to time. If you follow these rules to the dot without fail you'll end up stressing yourself out. I'm not saying rules are bad, but as with anything in life keep it in moderation.

I have rules too but I've broken a pretty important one about 4 times lol. I definately got lucky with the potential consequences of braking that one :p It's pretty important for me to set myself rules as I tend to be quite impulsive and I've gotten into trouble in the past. So yes, rules are important but it's not always the end of the world if you brake them. Sometimes it can make you more determined not to brake them again.

You just basically summed up what I am like aswell there.

I have rules about life, but the one I follow the most is to never try to be anything else other than who I am and to never back down to what life throws you, if you can take its worse you never really care about little things as much.

Serve the world with good influence through peace and solidity, enforce the purpose of your journey, and don't take any garbage from the naysayers, but always be open to new ideas. Consistency and balance generate fulfillment, but there is always room to improve.

Die like a hero if you can; obtain that immortality. To live one life with honorable and undying influence is to live forever. Quote me on that if you love me.
