Before watching France's first game I believed that they were the sort of team that could go all the way. Now I think that Germany will win. Even though it's hard to tell how good they actually are considering the team that they beat.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Yeah looking at France's team, on paper they should be a big contender to win the World Cup. They have a lot of backroom troubles between the manager and the players that's really affecting their chemistry. The manager Domenech looked like he couldn't care less about the result, the players weren't fighting for themselves or eachother. How frustrated must the French fans be?

As for Mexico, they played very well and I think they're probably my adopted team now. If England don't win then I'd love either Mexico or Germany to win as they're the teams I'm enjoying watching the most.

I don't want Germany to win... ever. It's not that I hate Germans. I'm just envious that they've won the world ciup at least 3 times. Somebody else needs to win, preferably us. Not that that can actually happen. I think it's against the laws of nature.

Mexico play really nice football, it's great to watch.
Most of the Southern American teams are doing well, Argentina flew past S.korea.

Slovenia would have won if they had kept their discipline and not given away so many free kicks. Plus they lost their mojo in the second half which lead to them getting a draw. They were so lucky not be beaten outright. That was definately a goal near the end. What was the referee thinking, or not thinking? Lets hope England can do better. Judging by some of the other games this week it could be another shocker.

I agree. It has to be said though that Algeria's defense was strong, Bougherra was all over the place. Very dull game though.

The commentators should stop insinuating that Capello doesn't know what he's doing or is using the team wrong, it gets on my nerves when they start playing the blame game. And the English fans booing the team at the end? Disgraceful. Why pay that much money if you're not even going to support your team at a tough time?

England are a ***** team. Nuff said. I doubt they'll qualify, let alone get past the next round.

I think England will still get past the group stage.

I wonder why Joe Cole wasn't bought on.

I wonder why Gerrard was played on the left instead of the middle? Not that it would have made much of a difference. It was a blatent psychological issue if you ask me. This happens to teams all the time. I've seen top premiership sides lose to championship sides. You can't put the blame on anyone really. It's just a weird thing that happens sometimes. I can't see them playing that bad again. It was almost certainly a one off...almost certainly. They weren't worse than France though and they weren't worse than Greece's first game. At least everytime they got possesion, they got men forward and had shots at goal.

Gerrard was playing there because for some god forsaken reason we have Gareth Barry and Frank Lampard on the England team, and Gerrard happens to be fairly decent in comparison. I don't know why Joe Cole wasn't played, but I'd much sooner like an answer as to why the heck Capello insists on playing Shaun Wright-Phillips. He's completely and utterly useless. The only person just as useless as him is Emile Heskey but at least when England are losing I can sit there and laugh at whatever Heskey seems to be doing.

England may get through to the next round but they will lose. If they can't beat Algeria, then they have serious problems. I mean for gods sakes, when Ashley Cole is playing the best out of everybody on the field, your team has SERIOUS issues.

I really like Shaun Wright-Phillips. He has great pace and great vision plus brilliant ball controll. He just lacks experience and goes over too easily. As for Heskey, I agree with you. He's pretty average at the best of times. Maybe Joe Cole should play in his position. Gareth Barry was quite good. He saved England a few times when potentially they could have conceded a goal. I also agree with you about Lampard. I don't think he can transfer how he plays a club level to international level. Some players are like that. Lol there is definately something up when Ashley Cole is one of the better players :p Oh and I forgot to mention how ***** John Terry and Glenn Johnson were. Kept giving the ball away and sometimes they almost scored own goals. We don't usually fail like this twice in a row. I predict it won't happen again until at least the quarter final.
