Hitting DBZF like a hurricane! Earlier today, I found out about OperationBeautiful. a movement starting from a website to tell people (anonymous or not) that you are beautiful, no matter who you are. 51% of Women would rather be hit by a truck than be overweight. Two in Five women would trade at least 5 years of their life to be thin. The majority of women overestimate their waist size by 30% and their hip size by 16% More women suffer from Anorexia or Bullemia than are fighting Breast Cancer Most girls begin to diet when they are EIGHT YEARS OLD How horrible must that feel? All I can think about is how many girls at my school feel like that every day. It's not right. So, firstly, Girls of DBZF (of which there are relatively few), you are beautiful, so smile ![]() Secondly, Guys of DBZF (of which there are many :P), you da man! Lastly, I don't want to advertise their site, but go google it, see pictures of what people have done to show others they are beautiful, and do the same if you feel it's right. |

So, I'm guessing it's a negative and potentially dangerous stereotype that most people these days are overweight. From the information you gave, it would seem the opposite is true. I'm always getting mixed messages about these things. One month everyone is too fat, then the next we have record levels of anorexia. Stupid media not providing accurate information.

Omg, that's absolutely shocking. Most people preach about inner beauty, but when it comes down to the facts, it seems that no one really cares about that, which is very sad. :\ |

I was amazed by those statistics. It's sad, there's nothign wrong with being healthy but wanting to suffer through Anorexia or Bulimia to look better is a depressing thought, especially as they only end up looking ill and obsessed. It sounds like a good site. |

Yeah... It's hard for young people to acknowledge the importance of inner beauty when the world outside tells them every day that what matters is how you look on the outside. |

Well to an extent what we look like on the outside does matter. It's just our natural instinct to want a more physically impressive partner. I think in prehistoric times, the best looking people were the ones more likely to pass on DNA which is why it matters so much. More so in females because traditonally, the males are the ones who select a partner. That maybe why there are far more ugly men than women. Having said that, we're not in prehistoric times anymore and as a sentient species should be trying to move away from these archaic attitudes. Unless breeding with attracative people is actually important for survival. |

Confidence in oneself (not pride or arrogance) is one of the most attractive traits people can have. People are drawn to those with self esteem and a strong will, especially when they are proactive in helping others. sadly, most women think that they will be admired for their physical traits. this is because the media has overtime placed a faulty, often unrealistic, expectation on all females to look a certain way in order to be considered desirable. It is one of the few examples of how Evil many of the minds of the media world are, since this false idea has obviously done more to degrade women self esteem than we may think. Men who are obsessed with outer appearance of girls, are often not looking for a good relationship with the opposite sex, but are instead going to treat women like a status symbol, rather than a person. "look at me, my wife is so hot, you all wish you had her" type men don't have as many real attachments to their companions, since if a really hot girl had a car accident and was handicaped for the rest of their life, they would be less appealing to other men on first sight, and the type of man I'm refering to would likely abandon her for it. I hope that women everywhere can understand better who they are, and gain confidence in that and in themselves, and work hard at progressing in life so that they are prepared for anything and than think "I deserve a man who appreciates me and who supports me" and not settle for anyone less. there are many men in the world who don't deserve a wife. I find confident women unattractive. I like them shy and I like to feel like I'm the boss. I don't think the media can be put entirely to blame for men prefering attractive women. As I mentioned before it's just human nature to prefer a better looking person. The media certainly doesn't help though. |

This is a lovely thought, but I can't help but feel that a compliment online from a stranger that hasn't even seen you, based entirely on concern over disturbing statistics, is one of the least sincere things ever lol (this isn't aimed at you, Byakko, but at the overall idea). It is a lovely thought though, and thank you for sharing the statistics; they are quite shocking, and worth knowing. |

yeah, your right, it's human nature, the carnal mind, that wants outward attractiveness, and it is for that reason the Media focuses on it, it drives people to mindlessly succumb to their garbage. I am tired of TV portrayals on how awful the family unit is, or how dysfunctional couples are, I want to watch an amazing couple that is still realistic, and watch and see the writers portray them dealing with life's challanges. It could still be just as entertaining, it's just gonna take a lot more effort from the writers to give it a good story, characters, and dialog, and some mighty awesome acting skills. I am most tired of all, of seeing perfect looking women in everything in the media, but men of all kinds. if they are gonna show men in different stages of life in video games and television, than there needs to be women in different stages of life too, including men and women who are on the ball, not just a bunch of bad examples, like we often find in TV. |

There are some examples of realistic families. Well as realistic as a family can be before 9:00pm. I haven't actually watched it but I've seen clips and there's a show called outnumbered. It's one of the few sitcoms I've seen where both parents are actually still together. Usually they're either divorced or one of them's dead. I hate that. Also, I find that on British TV there are far more ugly people. Whereas on American and Australian shows, everyone's far better looking. |
