I'm hoping some of you might be able to give me some answers as why my internet is suddenly struggling to stream even the lowest quality videos. It worked fine before but for some reason in the last couple of days it's taken a really long time to watch even the shortest videos. Both Youtube and BBC I player give me the same problems. The rest of my internet works fine, it's just when it comes to watching a video. Is it my ISP or my router? |

It's not your problem. It's a problem with youtube and other sites. Ever since Youtube changed their format I've been having problems watching any video before it starts to buffer. Granted my internet is not the fastest in the world, It didn't do this a while back. If you are wireless you might consider plugging in an ethernet if you have the ability. It helps somewhat. It's the difference between data-speed bandwith of incoming packets through wireless and wired that would make a difference, but still limited to the site you are using and speed of your ISP.

Nah it's not Youtube. As I said BBC I player does the same thing, as do videos on Xbox Live as I found out this morning. I started watching Sent you a message an hour ago and I'm still watching it now. I wish I could plug an ethernet in but my room's in an aqwuard place for a cable to reach. Could be my router playing up as it's *****, but could also be my ISP cause that's ***** too. |

Well maybe we both have terrible ISP's. Because mine is slow, but not the slowest I've seen. I swear it's youtube though, because they've recently switched over to high def and middle range definition videos and I think that makes it longer to download but I could be wrong. |

Well my brother uses a different ISP and he says his works fine. Also, Youtube worked fine up until a few days ago and they updated long before that. I thought it was actually faster after the update. |

Fixed it at last. Turns out there was a damaged cable which was causing some problems with the microfilter. A tiny little split in a wire has caused my internet to be slow and disconnect all the time. All sorted now though. I can use Youtube again ![]() |

Could be interference. Radio's, other wireless internet signals, microwaves and cordless phones can all interfere. Or your microfilter could be faulty. Or it could be as simple as low cloud or a passing plane. |

oh. well I don't think it's any of those other things, though it could be a slightly malfunctioned microfilter. hu, well thanks, that gives me some ideas of what to look for and see if there is any correlation. |
