I'm understanding of course, and I'm not gonna judge someone who swears all the time, and I appreciate it when people respect my concern, so thankfully, there are not many people I have come across where this has made conversation difficult. I don't just find it annoying, I find it rude, insulting, and more than anything, it adds an unwanted tone to their language. I never swear, and for the most parts, my friends don't swear around me. You tend to use a certain language around poeple, based on their language. thats what I've noticed about it, like Mitas and Sousen said, they only swear around their friends, probably because their friends swear regularly in conversation with them. it becomes more of a "way of verbal communication". like when my dad talks to friends with a southern accent, he starts using his, without even noticing it, and I'll point it out to him and he had no idea he was doing it. I believe "swearing" gets a point across, but it's a point you never need to get across unless you completely hate the person your talking to, or the thing your refering to, in which case it's still inappropriate to use. swear words are nothing more than offensive words with harsh undertones. I think if you have to use a swear word to get your point across, then your trying to be as hurtful to the thing your referring to as possible, otherwise you'd find a better word to describe it.

Even if the word isn't being used to intentionally be hurtful, it is still an offensive word that can be taken as an insult. they are all insults in their own context. using them any other way would be using the word out of context, which just makes the swearer look uneducated or ignorant on the proper use of the word. I would invite you to not swear, it is degrading to you and those around you. I can promise you will feel more confident in your language and feel better about your conversations if you not only refrain from swearing, but also find new meaningful words to better communicate.

I'm not really sure what you mean, there are plenty of other words that start with those sounds, like Curse, or Witch, or Crud etc. It's easy to find a less offensive word to describe the same something with. The point is, the reason people are offended by swears is because they are harsh and hurtful. whether the words were created to be hurtful in tone, or they just developed a more hurtful tone over time, I feel they are not needed in conversation all the same. Firefox Favourite Manga Dragonball	That's a good point. I do find some words offensive. Particularly the C word which I never use. I say fanny or vagina instead. So I get what you mean. The other word for poo isn't offensive though surely. Pretty much everyone uses it.
