http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/south-park-producers-say-network-cut-fear-speech--1181 In the latest episode(s) of South the prophet Muhammad was used as a character and from the article the creators of South Park used him in an offensive way which resulted in them being threatened. I hope now that South Park will be a little more cautious about what they put on their show |

I don't really like South Park. I've never found it funny. Some of its humor is offensive to celebrities or the general public. This should show them a lesson. Not everyone is tolerant of their show. |

Eh. I feel bad for them. But, they really shouldn't be using someone like Muhammad in an offensive manner. Someone is going to get mad. Maybe now they'll be a little more mature with their show...? |

They used everyone else in the episode, from Jesus to Moses (hey!) to Santa to Tom Cruise to Barbara Streisand to ginger kids (hey!!). I applaud(ed) them when they used the fact that they had to censor Muhammad (Mohammad?) as a plot point in their episode. However, when they resulted in not showing Muhammad in the following one -- and when they even went as far as to censor the very mention of his name -- it ticked me the ***** off, but I knew something had happened to make them do that. South Park has gotten away with a lot worse, though. They show make fun of every other religion, and even showed made fun of all of our presidents since the show began. Why are Muslims off limits? It was laughable though when they exploited this at the end of the episode to censor the "moral" of the story as spoken by Kyle, Santa, and Jesus. Haha!! |

I sort of agree with their mockery of celebrities, because I hate the world, but I think that their use of Jesus (repeatedly) and other such figures, like Muhammed, while maybe funny, should be either stopped, or limited to the least offensive ideas imaginable. These figures are peoples sacred icons, you can't **** with them. |

"The message included a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker murdered by a Muslim extremist in 2004 after making a movie about a woman who rejected Muhammad's teachings. The message said the "South Park" producers would "probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh" for airing the show." If that is what Comedy Central is bowing down to then they should feel disgusted with thmselves. I personally like South Park, and although I don't find it nearly as funny as it used to be, I don't think that, whether it's a comedy, a soap opera or a reality TV show, anyone should be threatened by expressing their views on beliefs that are not their own. This is not racism. This is not intolerance. This is a couple of writers using an animated comedy show to express their views on cencorship. |

I don't usually watch South Park, so, I don't really know much history about it. But, from what I'm reading in this topic... It sounds like many people were lenient when it came to poking fun at religion and celebrities. I'm fine with celebrities, personally, but I don't think they should be making fun of religion all that much. Some people really take religion seriously, and would most likely not be appreciated it if it was made fun or mocked. I think that's why the creators are getting threatened, personally. Someone who takes a religion seriously saw it, and was offended. But...taking knowledge from history class, most Muslims in America ( that I know of) aren't really too eager to to fight. I wonder if these people came from another country? Or maybe from America? I dunno. |

It's suppost to be offensive and that's what some people like about it. To threaten someone over a show is worse than making it, they should be able to use whatever they like so long as it doesn't break the law. Threatening violence brakes the law, you might not like South Park but do you approve of the creaters being hurt or killed just because they wanted to excerise their rights to free speech? Why do we have to be restricted in what we can and can't say? |

I thought Barbara Streisand was more offensive than showing a censored Muhammed. Why should people who aren't muslim be prohibited from creating an image of him? That's wrong. Some people should take a closer look at their own standards before criticising others. |

Leave it to the Muslim extremists to pull off a stunt like this.... Anyways, it's not the first time Mohamed is shown in South Park, lol.

That whole episode was about how they are allowed to rip on anyone but Muhammad, They had Buddha sniffing a line of Coke for god sake. Also If they got told they wernt allowed to do this then other people would be like 'Hey if Muhammad isnt getting shown, I dont want to be' so they wont be able to show anything pretty much, They also did an episode on that. I do have to add one thing though. They made fun of other religions, and they weren't threatened. Celebrities are made fun of all the time and none seem to care. They should be careful of what they air, but I don't think it's fair that muslims threaten them. |

I'm going to have to agree with you. Why should Muslims be special? I don't get it. Sure, Muslims take their religion seriously (not sure about all, but some do) but does it mean that if someone they worship is used is such a manner as this that they should threaten someone? I know there's Christians who take their religion seriously. But you don't see them getting up in their faces about not using Jesus in an offensive manner. *sigh* |

They make fun of EVERYTHING, so what's the big deal now that they've done it with Mohammed. Because Muslims (extremists mostly) can't take a joke? Where was the uproar when they made Jesus shoot a machine gun? Or when Michael Jackson was shown to be a child groomer? It's South Park, it's what they do. If you don't like it don't watch it and then it won't affect you. |
