Digimon World for the Playstation console; a game that appeared before the anime, and any other media aside from the virtual pets devices and card game. You haven't played this game, but IF you did, (in your mind, because you haven't played it) what would your opinion of the game be? Too hard? Too technical? Perhaps overlooked and underrated. If you played it, what would you think of it? |

Played it. I loved it, literally, I was young at the time and found ti hard but it didn't stop me from racking up hours and hours on it. |

I played it and it's an awesome game. Spent hours on it, one of my favourite games of all time. I think it was underrated. It was quite hard (haven't played it in a while so don't know if that's because I was young like Light). But it had quite a lot of possibilities, a good story-line. I do remember getting Numemon a lot (that green slime thing). |

Oh my... you... you've both warmed my heart. I agree. I really do. It is sadly looked over, but a great game nonetheless. I just recently purchased it for forty bucks on eBay. Ah, Numemon. When we were young, that's the slime bastard we all came to know and hate. Everybody I've asked about this game mentions Numemon. Hey. If you guys were to get this game again, by all MEANS ask me for help if you need it. I'll do anything to help you out and bring this game justice. It has extremely technical game mechanics that are very briefly (if at all) discussed in the game/manual, but I've really studied up on it and I know for sure that this was the reason it was far too difficult for most people. (thus it scored awful ratings with an "impossible" difficulty...) I just recently got all of the medals in the game. Did you guys ever play the curling mini-game? Getting the medal for that was literally THE hardest task I have ever been faced with in my vast years of gaming. This is the curling mini-game, in case anyone has forgotten: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l3lva-4S3A Eh, it's somewhere in there. Anyway, to earn the medal, you have to actually score a perfect 10. It took me about 12 hours to beat that, which was basically the entire chunk of free time I had for that weekend I spent in doing so. It was a nightmare. |

Yeah it is definately under-appreciated. Although you paid $40 for it, which I think is like £28 here. My friend found it in a game shop for like £7 which is like $10. And yeah I remember the curling game, was pretty hard. I actually wanna get this again now :P |

it was way hard for a kid game. I could only just barely get into Devimon's castle, if thats what it's called. I couldn't figure out how a lot of the mechanics worked, and I grew a hatred towards Numemon that has gone unrivaled for quite some time. I owned Digimon world 2 and loved it, until I saw it's utterly horrible multiplayer. I than got tired of it when I realized I had maxed my game time out at 99:59, and I still hadn't beaten it yet (Digimon world 2 is possibly the most time consuming game to exist prior to W.O.W. and Everquest lol) |

Aye, I have played this game. It was pretty decent, though a bit on the difficult side to get used to. The game wasn't my own copy though, and I don't have my own copy. It was a friends whom I borrowed it from for awhile. Pretty fun if you ask me. Though by that time I was already so rooted into RPG genre, I didn't pay much attention to these types of games as often as I should, except maybe Jersey Devil since that was a non-RPG I really loved a LOT. And it was more difficult than Digimon World, too. |

I have 218 hours of gameplay over the years, and I just recently earned every medal (achievement) in the game. Wait wait, "these types of games," Garlic? I don't think I've ever played a game with the mechanics of Digimon World. Help me out here? Compare this game to one of similarity. Edited by Dark, Feb 13 2010, 01:03 AM.

tamagotchi fused with monster rancher. that pretty much sums up the level system and how stats work in addition to training and taking care of your digimon's "needs" not to mention commanding your digimon from affar, and hoping the AI will take care of the rest. In fact, the only things this game had that were truley original, was the level layout (the game felt so huge and daunting because your dude would die of old age before you could figure out where to go next), and your dude turns into a steaming pile of poo if you don't let it use the rest room within 20 seconds or so from the time it lets you know it has to take a dump, and after a while it's just gonna die anyway lol. but there are other things that seemed pretty original about it, like....um....hm, yeah I've pretty much seen everything in the game used some where else before, and they simply modified it to be congruent (for the most part) with what you see in the TV series. I'm not saying it was bad though, the proper fusion of different ideas, regardless of how much they've been done before, can make a great game. I think I'll stick with the Monster Hunter series though, and I'll stay away from the Tamagotchi aspects. grinding your little dude so he can win fights is hard enough, I already know he has a limited life span, I don't need to worry about finding a portapotty everytime he's gotta go lol. Yes, I have played this game, and I really do think it was great, the Digimon World 2003 and great too, I honestly think that the Playstation 1 Digimon games are much better than the newer ones like Rumble Arena, I got that for the Gamecube and it was not really great, it was okay, but the old RPG PS1 Digimon games were WAY better, the storyline and everything about them were just awesome, they were RPGs (which is my favourite game genre) and they were decently long for a game. So yeah, I have played this game and think it was good. |
