Computer: Windows XP Home Hardware checked for problems: Not yet Currently the problem with the PC is that it recently had a malware attack. The userinit.exe is corrupt or missing from the startup folder. Causing the user to log off directly after logging in. Also, During safemode initialization, the system reboots after pinging mup.sys. This may be a problem with SP3 for XP. However the cause is unknown at the time. If any of you have any solutions, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll continue to work on this in the mean time and post results later. |

I'm in need of help and dearly to say the least. I have a fake antivirus spyware on my computer. It's just on one account for now though. But I'm afraid of it spreading through out the computer and not allowing me to take out my saved files on there. So if you know of any way to help me out I would be forever grateful. Thank you. |

How is your ctrl+alt+del working? Is it? If so you need to go through the list and end any processes that show your computer name by it, not system and not local network. You may not be able to shut everything down. So you can actually move around, go to start > run > type in msconfig, then go to the startup tab and take a screenshot and post it here. I'll tell you exactly what to do from there. Edited by Rockman, Apr 13 2011, 01:04 PM.

I mean I can accesses the task manger for about 15 seconds before the virus closes it down. So I close anything not coming from "Local Network" and "System"? |

Yes, but you want to go through your startup items before you can do anything. So lets do that before anything else. |

Well yeah there's a problem. The affected pc won't have the same startup items as the one you screenshotted. Run this program on the affected computer, http://majorgeeks.com/download3155.html You will need to unzip it to a folder before using it. When the program starts up, hit the DO A SYSTEM SCAN ONLY button. Then hit, SAVE LOG. Take that log here, and then copy and paste it in this thread. |

How do I downloaded it if the internet is off on the affected computer? I don't know how to get it over a other account. |

Well to no avail I tried your strategy. The virus wouldn't allow me to open it. I then went on to do run msconfig. Couldn't do that either. I'm getting really annoyed with this already. Any other ideas? |
